we arej ust wondering if itll be better for future proofing the system. She plays a lot of Sims 3 too. Since the Core i5 is only a dual core and quad cores are becoming more main stream i would think she would be better off with the i7, like i said for the future.

if the i7 is a quad core then go for it 100%, you won't regret it

yeah the core i5 is a dual core with HT. the i7 2630QM is a quad. not sure if its with HT or not.

EDIT: okay the Core i7 has 4 core 8 threads

i7 has HT, i7 cpu's have all features enabled that aren't server only (see:http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=52219)

From what i can understand in reviews etc they found the build quality on the higher end ACERs lot better than their budget lineups.
Think i found a nice laptop which fits good quality and i7 and a better GPU than GT540m according to notebookcheck.

she can just get a regular camcorder camera that has a USB mode for that.... they come in much higher resolutions then regular webcams.
