So I'm definitely getting one game over the next few weeks and need some help.

Here's what I've narrowed it down to:

    Mafia 2

    Kane and Lynce Dog Days

    Medal of Honor

    Star Craft 2

    or other suggestion

Please vote and post according thought and suggestions.

    Thanks!

Yeah.. starcraft 2 rocks. wasted the whole weekend playing SoTIS (dota like map for sc2), nexus wars, and some TD maps lol. loads of fun. The ladder is ok, but is quite stressfull.. custom game maps are there to relieve that rage hehe. Oh yeah, and the campaign is frigin awesome as well. Replayability is very much evident.. you wont get bored once you finished the campaign.

My vote is StarCraft 2. If you liked the original, this one won't let you down.

Never played the 1st Star Craft. Dont realy like the gameplay as much; guess the closest game I like was Grid, The Awakening.

Mafia 2's demo comes out tomorrow, I'll see if that wins me over.

If you never played the 1st StarCraft, how can you say you don't like the gameplay?

Just go back to playing Defense Grid : The Awakening. Tower defense addiction FTW !!

SC2 is very good but I haven't played Kane & Lynch: Dog Days or Mafia 2 yet. MoH, I have no interest in because it is "just another first person shooter." I don't expect any miracles from EA/DICE. My expectations are pretty low for Dog Days too. I therefore couldn't recommend SC2 until at least Mafia 2 is out.

Yes, in a sort of an ethereal sense.

On topic : What kind of games do you like the best? Shooters, rpg, rts?
That's really how you should pick games, IMO.

I tend to check a review or two prior to blindly buying a game. If I dont like how the game is played(ie gameplay) then I'm not going to drop $50. Just because I never played the 1st SC, doesnt mean I shouldn't play the 2nd. Nearly every review I've read has this as being much better than the 1st and worthy of new beginners.

I enjoy shooters, 3rd person action, rpg, and a select rts. Basically when FF went rts I stopped enjoying them. I dont like a 'strategy' game where people are given turns; side note, as well I never got into the Magic or any other card based games.

I'll give SC2 a shot if it's worth the experience, enjoyment, and most importantly my money.

Edit, it's neck and neck with Mafia 2 and SC2. 8-8

I've never played Supreme Comm. nor viewed videos/reviews. Is it very similar to Start Craft?

Basically once a game becomes too detailed I loose sight of the fun in playing. Again to reference Final Fantasy, when the came out with the relics and bangles to enhance 1% of 1 persons character's ability I just thought it wasn't the same 'loot' and didn't warrant the time investment.

I enjoyed Borderlands as an rpg, granted I played through just once but that was enough for me.

Oh please, you derailing a thread? :p

Games I'm currently playing: GTA4, Just Cause 2, Batman AA, Defense Grid: Awakening, COD4/5, and Alien Swarm. I'll be downloading the Mafia 2 demo as soon as it's available.

supreme commander is similar to starcraft, but on a much larger scale.

an overwhelming army in SC 1 or II could be 50 units... in Sup com its more like 500-800 units for a real fight ;)
    mlee49 says thanks.

Given what you are currently playing, it looks like you would be happier with MoH or Mafia 2 than SC2.

Although you did get hooked on DGrid.

SupCom is pure awesomeness. If you can find it cheap get it. It's easy to learn with very intuitive controls and camera movement. Mastering it against other players is a whole 'nother ballgame.

I'm having a bad posting day. It's like a bad hair day except completely different. :/

 All the votes are for either M2 or SC2. I played the demo for K&L Dog Days and I thought it was trash. Wouldn't pay $5 for it. Medal of Honor is basically going to be the same as BC2 (but hopefully with a better story mode) so I'd just pick up BC2 if you don't have it or just hold out for BF2. I've heard nothing but good things about StarCraft II, it seems really cool but just isn't my kind of game. Lastly, I voted for Mafia II because all of the footage I've seen of it looks absolutely amazing. That is all.
