Yeh i connected the power cable for the fan, its a 4 pin connector. One of those wide ones. The fan spun so the card was running. The link you sent me was exactly the one I downloaded from. Though I need to find out how to get the 3650 and allow the pc to boot, instead of do nothing so i can install drivers with the card in.

Are you saying the 4-Pin Molex connector?

It has no 6 pin power connected, it gets all its power from the slot.

This confuses me. Did you connect the power or not? I looked at this card and it has a 4 pin molex connector for power.

EDIT: Also, you said it has an Intel PSU, does it meet the recommended minimum wattage? Did you attempt to clear the CMOS?

Yes I meant the 4-pin molex connector. I had a mental blank and forgot the name.

Sounds like the card is bad.

I had an old system with an AGP card take a crap at work. When I put in a spare Radeon 9000 I had laying around it told me I forgot to plug in the molex. I would think the 3600 would do that too.

I did plug in the molex, though i do find it hard to plug in and i dont want to snap the card. Im not 100 percent sure if i connected it in all the way, though the cards fan did spin.

I know 1nf. When I read through the thread and saw people saying the power was not connected, I remembered that the computer will tell you that on boot.

If a power connector is hard to push in, I find it easier to do it first before installing the card in the slot.

I don't think that is the problem. If the everything was okay and just the connector was unplugged (on not in all the way) I would think the computer would tell you when you turn it on.

If it doesn't work, RMA it.

I believe most cards use the lower DVI connector as default display. And the 1st pci-e closest to the CPU as default vga output.

it doesnt need to be all the way in, but if you managed to force it in backwards at any point... well, dead card.

In that era at least, only nvidia cards told you about lack of power. ATI cards just beeped, had a red LED light up, or didnt work.

the AGP era, mostly. even early PCI-E cards didnt let you know.

In my experience the nvidia cards would let you know in windows - i'd seen driver errors before "your card has insufficient power and has been reduced in speed until you connect the extra power cable" or whatever

hell even my 4870's dont tell me... just the red LED

True, same with my 4870, the 5770 does nothing, no led no beep, nothing at all to let you know you forgot to plug the power, my old (rest in peace:() 8800GTS 320 did a very annoying beep when the pci-e power wasnt connected.

I also think the card is dead, if everything is connected properly, and you tried all video outputs, and you reseted the bios, then i guess the card is dead. My 8800GTS shows a corrupted image during post, and then windows refuse to load, but it shows a nice corrupted BSOD:nutkick:.

Yeah, my old 8800GT did the same when I forgot to plug the power cable.

I don't think the guy will able to understand "POST", lol.

It's better to act like you know nothing and say something like "I plugged this one in, and it didn't display anything, but it worked when I switched back to my old card."

If the molex connector isn't connected, you will get a display on your screen in red letters saying you need to connect it. If you get nothing there is a different problem.

Just to clarify:

The new card doesn't work but the old card still works?

Or, neither card now works?
