SD cards are cheaper :)

these are the recent specs that are rumored.

Project Cafe
-------------
IBM Quad Core running at 3.5Ghz
16mb eDRAM
1024mb GDDR5
512mb XDR2
Blu-Ray (up to 50GB)
Gamecube and Wii backwards compatibility
controller has 8 buttons, 6.2" touch screen and front facing camera.
250GB and 320GB internal storage models
8GB SD card (up to 64GB)

XBOX 360
----------
IBM Tri-Core running at 3.2Ghz
10mb eDRAM
512mb GDDR3
512mb XDR

I remain skeptical. Seems like a system with all those requirements would be too expensive to sell for Nintendo...

Project Cafe will retail for $299-349. I assume $349 is for the 320GB SKU. the Blu-ray player has me skeptical because Nintendo would have to pay Sony a lot of money to license it. all next gen consoles will cost $299-399 according to Pachter.

I am curious if publishers will continue developing PC ports because adding another platform means more time, money and work :(

I know this sounds dumb but Nintendo could save so much money to just start developing PC games and quit the whole console thing. That probably won't happen though for a very very long time. :p

This is true. Don't forget crap consoles too. Well that's just my opinion but the past two generations of console that came from Nintendo, I haven't been too impressed with. Barely any good hardware to keep the consoles worth playing. Don't get me wrong. They have GOOD titles out but it's not enough.

Um its going to be an R700 GPU based off of several sources.

http://au.gear.ign.com/articles/116/1163325p1.html

That same source also claims it has a Tri-Core instead of a Quad like other sources linked here. I think most of these are just speculation and presumption. They want a system that has a similar setup to the 360\PS3 to encourage more quality multi-platform games. I know for a fact they are getting an IBM CPU, but I don't know anything other than that unfortunately. Their time at E3 is only like 2 days away so we'll see then.

Im willing to bet money that all these rumors are false, and that the new system will feature a whooping 256 MB of EDO ram, a 933 MHz Pentium III processor and a Radeon 9550 GPU.

Yes i also heard it has a modified R700 and some sort of quad core IBM. Honestly it sounds like a beefed up modified xbox 360 since that used an IBM tri core and a modified ATI graphics chip.

Its nice the rumours say its using 1gb of VRAM but i think they could have bumped up the system RAM to 1gb since essentially after a while the ram will start to limit the console much like the 360 and PS3.

Im thinking even though it has a potential 2 year head start by the time the next sony and microsoft machines are out it will be lagging behind in terms of hardware. Then again people didn't exactly buy the wii for its outstanding hardware.

Meh, im getting sick of all these new consoles and such. I just prefer playing the classics on my pc through emulators. Thats the way to go.

I was thinking of the 256MB XDR the Playstation 3 uses. my apologies. made the correction.

emulators are illegal and buggy. no XBOX 360 or Sony Playstation 3 emulators are available.

the PS3 and XBox 360 are the most problematic so far. Both consoles have restricted low level hardware access (which we'd need) and everything is done through an API library. Until this sort of thing can be overcome or at least "some" details about how the hardware works gets released, both emulators are dead in the water before they get off the starting blocks.

so no, i wouldnt expect anything any time soon, even more so while the team is fully focused on PCSX2.

besides a monitor too small to appreciate a 2k resolution and office chair is no way to enjoy classic games.
