I've read somewhere, that new intel processors are coming out on the 12th of November. Is it true? Will it mean current processors like the Q6600 will have prices dropped?

I am not sure about Intel, they may have some server chips being released but here is the Intel roadmap of CPU's as of January 2008, it shows prices also.

I am not sure when AMD's Phenom will actually hit retail shelves either.
    JrRacinFan and nguyenpeter76 say thanks.

Well that depends really, you have not listed your specs so I dont know if you will need a motherboard upgrade or whatever to take a 45nm chip. If you already have a S775 board then of course the current Q6600 will be the cheapest option but beware, some S775 boards do not overclock a quad well (mine for instance).

Noverber 20th the date Phenoms are supposed to hit the shelves.

The longer the wait the more money for me to spend on my new rig.
    AMD Phenom for me.

Wonder how much those CPU's will be since they are going to be triple core right?

Don't actually know the price of the Phenoms yet.
I'll be pissed if have to fork out for some unreasonable amount of cash for the CPU like the FX series was.

    Random thing to say. . . .
What would you do with a Quad core???:wtf:

Newer technology, revised architecture, better performance.
I am certain the people around here with Quad cores usually do not have four apps running at once.

all i know is im definately getting a processor thatll be able to run gears of war. according to wikipedia its required 2.4 ghz for intel so e6600 or q6600 is lowest i can look at. im eyeing the q9450 for its 12mb cache

I was under the impression that Triple cores were a way off and for server OEM's only? It will be interesting to see how the Phenom's relate price/performance wise in comparison to Intel's 45nm Yorkfield quadcores, there is a thread in here showing a Yorkfield acheiving 4.6Gig on air:eek:
