    [SOLVED] New PSU recommendations

    [EDIT]
The issue was not the filthy PSU but a a troublesome DVD/RW drive.

    Well.
My trusty Enermax PSU has finally screwed the pooch.
Choca full of dust and was impossible to get into.
The fan was making a clacking sound at times and noticed one of the fans making a dubstep bass wub.:shadedshu
Started getting increasing AMD VPU recover in games since the start of the week, so I replaced the GPU and still ended up with VPU recover.:banghead:

Started to back up my C drive data and was getting problems with random restarts and sometimes BSOD, even in safe mode.

Just replaced the PSU with a value range TT 430w PSU and data is backing up smoothly now.

I'm guessing my TT PSU would be cutting it a bit thin for my rig so I am looking at getting a new PSU.

I am looking at the Corsair HX or Silverstone range.

I'm wanting to future proof, so what kind of power range would I need for a current day i7 rig with a mid/high end GPU, 2 HDDs, DVD drive, 3x120mm fans, sound card, 6GB ram you guys reckon?

I have a Corsair HX 750, been using it about 2 years now? Its been through at least 5 system rebuilds. its awesome. Never an issue, more cables then I have ever needed, looks good, quiet. I can't say enough good things about it and would highly recommend it.
On top of this comes with a 7 year warranty.
    Widjaja says thanks.

Thanks guys, but I think my conclusion was wrong as my machine still crashed, BSOD'd etc etc....
All the stuff which f'd me off so it may not be the PSU after all.

    Did memtest and passed fine.

Booted up the machine to have it freak out about three tmes before deciding to dettach the DVD drive.
So far so good, so this SATA DVD drive may be a problem.
    If it is the culprit.
    I will be smashing it.
