This game so far sounds pretty cool, but I really,REALLY hope it is nothing like DOOM. There is a article in the newest Game Informer about this game and so far "I'm lovin it"

Did any of you read the PDF in the quote? There is some news in there for PS3 lovers.

This game will change the face of the industry and how it makes games. Carmack does it every time.

Didn't notice the PDF. Looks like they are having a bit of hardship with the PS3.

Looks nice!, Can't wait to play it!.:)

    wow, looks pretty impressive.

Those are the best looking clouds I have ever seen in a game. They look real.

If its anything like Carmack's past work, then it sure will change the industry.:)

Like i said tho, i hope it doesn't turn out to be like Crysis, where it comes out and absolutely nothing can run it well until the new gen cards are released.(and even then, its still not running its best):shadedshu

Very interesting presentation material in the PDF. I would have loved to be in the course.

It does look like they had to do a lot of extra work on the engine in order for it to play well with the Cell processor.

The section where they show the dissection of the VLT is mind blowing.
I wish there was more information on the collision detection. SupCom2 is supposed to use new algorithms for CD and object avoidance that is called Flow(something) (sorry can't remember the darn name). I wonder how the two compare.

The statement that fast single core CPUs are dead made me grin. We all knew that, didn't we? With the amount of parallelization they are trying to achieve I think that it will not be long before dual cores fall by the wayside.

That of course, is just speculation.

    Thanks MailMan. Nice find. :toast:

Hope not. Of course single core is dead but Duals should still live on.

But once games say Quad core as Minimum specs in games, imma be sad.:shadedshu(since im broke)

No problem! I wish I could contribute more to the community but my knowledge is pretty limited. The only thing I know better than games is Photoshop and guns.

Anyway I think that duel cores will be somewhat safe as long as the current generation of consoles is sold. At the most the 360 has only three threads to work with. Since everything is multi-platform now I think its safe to say a fast duel core is all you currently need. Tri core to be safe.

Now when the next generation arrives I'm willing to bet we will see 6 or 7 threads per console and that will render the duel core obsolete. At least for gaming ;)

You have an Extreme series processor... overclock it already. Just change the multiplier. The stock multi is 10... change it to 10.5. And extra 133MHz... whee... This is a very subtle change and should work without changing anything else. It probably doesn't even need to be tested for stability. Trust me, your CPU will be begging for more...

Hm this wasteland looks so much better than Fallout 3's

now dont get me wrong i love fallout 3 but i think this is going to take its place when it comes out. i just feel like the color pallet in this game really pops out where fallout 3 was drab and always the same.

Rage is supposed to be more, a mix of driving/racing, survival, exploration and mind blowing visuals.

Fallout 3 is definitely more catered to the survival category, trading, selling.etc, and the visuals are ok, but not close to what Rage is putting out.
