Hey guys

First time since 1997/1998 that ive had an Nvidia graphics card so i am not really accustomed to Rivatuner.

my problem is that i dont know how to set the fan speed Ive looked on the net & most of them say that i have to go into the power user tab & edit the regstry entry but when i do that i still cant put the numbers in to run my own profile.

does anybody know how to unlock it? Ive been messing around with it for ages & it is driving me to the point where im about to throw my 8800GTS out the window & plug my X1800XT back in

please help - my 8800GTS's life is on the line

I had some trouble with this as well. As I recall (vaguely) after you edit the registry key for RivaTuner/fan to 3, you need to reboot RT to be able to edit. Then double click on the fan settings in low level system tweaks to edit.
I'm on Vista and have not been able to get any profiles to load on start up so I manually run my gaming profile when needed. Would be great if someone new how to fix this without disabling UAC or buying Vista Ultimate.

You need to edit the config file. Search the config file for the line:

G92 = 610h-61Fh
and change it to
G92 = 600h-60Fh,610h-61Fh

That should enable you to then click the small triangle next to the name of the videocard and then on the controller (looks like a little videocard). I had to do the same with my GTS 512. Stock fan was running at 29% so I moved it up to 50% and it is still silent.
