Hey So i just bought a new x-fi soundcard off of newegg and was wondering if i needed to uninstall the onboard drivers. or disable them in someway or do i just plug in the new soundcard and install the soundcard drivers and go thanks for any help

Hi,

You should probably uninstall and disable in the bios, but I don't think it will matter too much.

If you won't use the onboard card you should disable it in the BIOS, removing it's software first won't be a bad thing though.
Then again you could also use it for something like a headset, a secondary simply soundcard for a headset is very handy.
