Hi all,
Well the delivery man dropped this lot off today so I am currently as I type this...
Quick run down:
I havn't had chance to start building it yet (DAMMIT! ) but I have the afternoon of work tommorow so futher pictures should follow.
This of course assumes it will all fit inside my little Antec NSK4480 case. (I know the HD4870X2 fits as I tested it but the rest I am not so sure..)
*The GTX260 cards I originally ordered were out of stock. The shop didn't bother to tell me this (I only found out as I contacted them...) The HD4870X2 will be a stop gap until the next gen cards are released.
*updated with benchmark info!*
Just ran the built in Far cry 2 benchmark at exactly the same settings Bit-tech used (to get a direct comparison between a HD4870X2 on a Core2Quad (QX6850) and my i7 920 @ 3ghz (quick and dirty increase in the blk). Please note bit-tech used the 8.10 hotfix whereas I used the 8.12 official release drivers.
Settings used:
1680x1050 4xAA All Ultra quality (or highest setting possible) DX10.
Bit-tech.net: Link to review
Average - 54.7
Minimum - 35
My setup: (these results taken from the average of 3 runs)
Average - 68.68
Minimum - 48.07
Thats quite a difference. Partly down to the driver (I assume) and partly down to the extra cpu horsepower for what is effectively crossfire - seems to fall in line with what Hilbert at guru3d found when comparing multi gpu setups on Core i7 vs Core2)
Oh also I almost gave myself a heart attack when I, by mistake ran the benchmark windowed. I got about 14fps average lol!
