Hello guys. I'm not really building my own computer, i'm buying it from a certain website. I don't know if i'm allowed to say the name of the company so i wouldn't just to be safe. :p

I'd be using the computer for mostly gaming and video editing and maybe some other stuffs.
I'd be playing WOW/Metro 2033/Crysis 2 and some other MMORPGs.

I have a 20inch monitor already. Gateway HX2000

I only have a budget of $1400.00 for now. I can go cheap on the GPU for now and maybe buy 2-4weeks later.

Any recommendations? Please? Thank you all.

CPU: i7 2600k

CPU Cooler: Asetek 550LC

Motherboard: Asus P8P67 Pro

GPU : GTX 460 SE i went for this because this is the one they have on the promo right now.

Case: I have to choose between Azza Hurrican, In-Win Dragon Rider or Haf-X.

PSU: NZXT Hale90 850wat

Memory: 8gb 1600 G-Skill Ripjaw X Series

Storage: I have a free 30gb Kingston would this be anough for a boot drive? Plus they'd be giving me a 1tb hdd but i do not know what kind it is.

OS: Is window 7 professional okay? Is there a big difference between the professional and ultimate?

What kind of information do i have to add? Thanks for the help guys.

You can post the name of the manufacturer and a link to their web site if you wish.
It may make it easier for people to help you with your questions.

@Cheesy ... we don't know where on the planet Naraku lives. He may not have the same access to parts and such.

Newegg is still a good place to start, I would say more than 50% of TPU comes from the States or UK.

Welcome to TPU Naraku :toast:

If you want to learn how to build a computer, you've certainly come to the right place.
If not, you've still come to the right place. :rockout:

Welcome!

First you should get a better monitor. Cheesy has a good setup there. Get that better GPU. You don't need full tower cases.

Thanks you guys. I'm still pretty scared lol. I don't want stuff blowing up. :p
And i don't know where those power supply cords are going and stuff. Can you guys help me if ever i decided to do it on my own? Like applying thermal paste and stuff? I am considering a full tower because i am planning to crossfire 2 6970 someday. Maybe 1 6970 next month then another for June. Will that fit in a mid tower case?

We sure can, you will save money building it yourself, and end up with a better machine.

We can take you through the whole build if needed, no problem.

Oh and welcome from tigger too :)

I'm sure there will be a mid tower that can fit a 6970 or two in it.

No problems with fitting more cards in a mid tower case. And nothing blows up, really. It's like a LEGO for adults.

Its just a as simple as plugging it in holes that fit :toast: Read up the manual, and it will tell you what you should plug where. Other stuff like thermal paste application there is youtube to help. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask, we are here to help you. Yes, as long as your case can hold 1, it most certainly can hold 2 (barring some extremely small form factor or mITX cases).

don't worry about cables there made so you can't put the wrong one in the wrong slot, you will have no problems with the case or thermal paste

Only one thing, i you can afford the premium of a gtx570 over a 560 ti then go for it see edit. Everything else looks good. Oh and a quick tip, make sure you plug in the cpu 12v pin power if your building your own ;). Welcome to TPU!

EDIT:

Oh also! For your monitor, you don't need the latest/greatest as it's not a very high res to game at. GTX460 1GB would serve you a LONG time when paired with it.

Choose a more affordable mid-tower case at around 100$. Cooler Master HAF 922 or CM 690 II Advanced or if you like the design some NZXT. Be sure to have bottom mount PSU.
I'd look into a Corsair PSU like the TX850. If you are not sure now why not go for starters with the stock cooler for the CPU? You don't have to apply any paste. Later when you feel confortable to OC, because that's how your config looks like. You can add the ASETEK or a Corsair H-50.

Which case would you recommend sir? I was looking at Corsair HX850 for the PSU because i heard it would be easier to deal with modular PSU. Is that right?

Modular PSU allows you to unplug wires that you dont need off the PSU, so you dont have as much cables cluttering your system. But its completely unnecessary, unless you are a cable management freak, or your case is extremely small etc. Case wise, I would go with they standard Coolermaster 690 II Advanced, its a very nice case to start your adventure with, although I like that case very much, so I am partial to that. Each to its own though, and you would want a case with reasonable quality (with everything you need, some budget cases comes with less than optimal kit).

OK, here's a review for the PSU I suggested and I recommend for a future crossfire or SLI: Corsair TX850

http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=218

As for the case, CM 690 II Advanced is a fantastic value for the money, you can also get the windowed one if you like. I am also a little biased towards this case since I own one. You will never find the perfect case so take your time and pick one that suits your needs.

As for the mobo do more research, there are other boards from Gigabyte, ASRock and MSI that might also do the job. Here's a comparison with different mobos in your price range:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/p67-motherboard-roundup-lga-1155-sandy-bridge,2837.html

Win 7 Ultimate has as a plus Bitlocker protection (I have on the other machine Vista Ultimate which has the same feature, never used it never need it) and different language versions (you don't need that) so I would say go with 7 Pro or if money's a probleme even with 7 Home Prem, be sure to get the 64 bit edition.

As for the GPUs I haven't used AMD so I don't know how they perform for the money you spend. For the two GPU setup I'd recommend either GTX560Ti or HD6950. You can go with one now and buy the second later. Any of those, one GPUs coupled with the i7-2600K will get you a very good gaming experience. For your monitor two is totally overkill so again think about a new monitor.

Have fun.

Take a look at Windows 7 features per version.

I actually went Home Premium because it's cheaper, and I do not use any of the added crap in the other versions.
Biggest differences between Home Prem and Pro:
- Remote desktop to your PC (you CAN RDP to ANOTHER machine from a Home Prem machine!). There are alternative programs for this too (anything VNC related).
I can still RDP from home to work on my Home Prem machine without any additional software.

- Windows Xp mode. Haven't found a single app I needed this for. And if you do, get VirtualBox or VMware for free and put up an XP Virtual machine :)

- Group policy stuff. Basically not important if you're not in a Domain (so, at home).

- File System Encryption. Get a free 3rd party prog for that if you want it :)

- Offline Files. Which is something I don't see me using. Ever.

I could comment on the hardware too, but hey, everyone else is already helping there ;)
