Are there any good flight combat sims that you have played (preferably newer)
I'm itching to take to the skies in some fighter jets again just like my old topgun days :)

What flight-stick would you recommend? I have been out of gaming world for around 8 years and now I intend to build a good gaming rig, and I would definitely like to play games like HAWX 1 & 2. Do you think that I should get myself a flight-stick for that or will the MS xbox controller for PC be ok?

It was recommended to me to look into the saitek x52 (nonpro edition) about 100 bucks new but it's supposed to be real good. I'll be getting one in about a week and I'll be sure to update you once I get it in.

I think the 3 games I'll be getting for flying are hawx 2 (i love me some f-22) DCS: black shark (helicopters) and MS flight sim (maybe "flight" depending on what it turns out to be)

DSC A10 looks fantastic and i will be getting that when it's released. Other flight sims i would recommend even though not recent FSX and IL2 Sturmovik 1946 but make sure with mods.

One to look out for when it's released Storm of War: Battle of Britain being the new IL2

Well not jets and I know it's not all that new.... but if you like WWII planes and WWI planes Aces High II gives you a 2 week free trial with out a credit card.

I used to be very addicted to the game. Also I can tell you from experience that it does require you to study real combat maneuvers to be any good!

You can also set the settings for even more ultra real flying scenario's. Like pro pitch/ no stall limiter/ no tracer fire/ and the like.....

The graphics on the game ..... well let's put it this way it's no crysis..... but they recently upgraded the visual graphics and it looks pretty good. I will tell you that you will loose yourself in the game for sure!

Here's a link if your interested

If you get on let me know I will meet up with yah and show yah the ropes :)

best ever flight combat simulators combat game on PC is the JANES USAF, it's old game since 1999 but it's real military Air force simulators, and if Janes do newer version like this one i will spend two years playing it
    simulators for flaying-take off-landing
simulators for all Air combat close rang, mid range-long range- all ground combat LGB,LB,all kind of GP-also machine guns
simulators for all kind of aircraft fighters, boomers, stealth and from Vietnam war F4 to F22
simulators for all kind weapons reloading before u take off, this is my best part it give u how to pick up right weapons for missions to every bomb and missile
it's old game but no game like it is simulators i play most flight games but still this game best of the best in my memory
more info here try search in youtube too

... For me I think HAWX suits me best; as I am not looking for a hardcore realistic flight combat simulation, but rather an action flight combat game with realistic planes' maneuvers and weaponry ...

I've been using the X52 since it was released, and have been using saitek's X series of controllers ever since I started computer gaming. The X52 is a great controller once you figure out how to use the software that it comes with.
