It's now being said by one analyst that only a refresh would be plasuable for 2012 and that a whole new system won't show until at least 2014 because sales are still strong. I agree that they more likely won't do an entire system swap until sales of the 360 start to take a dive. I'll bet that after Halo 4 which is their major system seller gets pushed out, they will finally start officially talking about a new system.

AMD has already confirmed that they are providing the GPU, so if it's any kind of SOC, it will be an AMD APU.

That doesnt mean that ARM will not provide the CPU, especially since the next windows will support ARM. I can see them making an all in one solution with an ARM and AMD GPU much like how the current xbox 360S uses a SoC but thats a power pc cpu and AMD GPU.

Actually ARM dont even make CPUs they just develop the tech and license it for other companies so that makes it even more possible its an ARM SoC with an AMD GPU.

I dont see how that can be if the current APUs cant provide decent pixel/shader crunching power like the discreet vid cards. Plus theres the issue of overheating yet again like with the XB360, more heat in a concentrated area like an APU means more trouble down the road.

Like i said the xbox 360S uses a CPU/GPU/eDRAM all in one.

As the wiki states, the PS2 Slim even had a CPU and GPU in one.

Cuts down on power and heat.
