in all seriousness though, up to you. Personally I think you'll be fine with it. You will see a nice bump in performance too, especially if you OC a bit yourself.

For an R9 290 I can't say but I've had no problems with the 14.3 beta with crossfire 280x. 13.12 also worked fine before I tried out the beta.

Hi I have installed it, I done a clean install just to make sure and on idle I can't hear it above my case fans, I have tried it with Battlefield 4 on Ultra setting and yes the noise increases but it is a fan noise not a whine like the msi card, no regrets so far I will give it a better testing but as I am suffering from man flu and getting no sympathy at all, I will leave that till another day, what is the best fan controller to use I heard somewhere that you can just have one fan running when the card is on idle and when under pressure the other two fans kick in.

I have this card and yes its loud with the stock cooler. You could have just picked up a Kraken G10 + Corsair H55 and with a closed loop water cooler on its super quiet. I did on my card for a cost of about $100

Hi I have RMAd the card back to Scan and will wait to see what happens if they say there is nothing wrong with the card I will see what MSI says.

We can confirm your returned goods have now been tested by our technicians.

According to Scan the MSI 7970 has been sent back to MSI to see what they are going to do with it and I should here in a couple of weeks.

Hi after finally receiving word from scan that (after them sending the card to MSI) the status of your RMA is Completed. We can confirm your returned goods have now been fully processed and replacements issued / refund authorised. I got that e-mail yesterday and lunch time today a parcel arrived fro Scan and inside it was the same graphics card box I sent the card away in and when I phoned Scan to ask about it I was told it was a refurbished one with a different serial number, that because it was outside the warranty I was not entitled to a refund and they had sent me a refurbished card. the cover is scratched pretty badly along the top and when I mentioned that I was told to try the card and if it didn't work properly to get back in touch with them. I am really pretty angry this is what I got for a 9 month £288 faulty card. rant over for now.

daaamn man. That sucks. 9months into warranty and you get a scratched up card. I'd also complain about the loss in value of the card when it comes to resale time because of the scratches.

What kind of Corsair 750 is it? RM? HX? TX? etc.

It depends on that a bit. According to PSU calculator inputting your system specs with 15% cap aging it will use ~779W. So I guess it might be worth upgrading your PSU to 850W or up.

EDIT: You might want to start a new thread for the PSU question. You will get heaps more tips and advice. I mean if it were up to me, I'd just get a 1000W 80+ Silver or up PSU that has good reviews and is really quiet and be done. I've always had overkill PSUs though that aren't really needed so I'm not a good person to help you out with PSUs haha.
