I've got an older Pentium 4 EE kicking around and thought I'd try to see how high I could oc it in my sys specs. The mobo saids it will support a Pentium EE. The fans and hdd came on but it would not boot.This was a missunderstanding on my part. The Pentium EE is in the Pentium D flavor, not the 4. Could this have trashed the cpu by trying to run it on a mobo that did not support it or will it just not work? :confused:

Probably not. More then likely your motherboard just needs a bios update to support the chip.

That board only has a 4-pin CPU power connector. The EE's are known to require an 8-pin connector - (very power hungry). It's either that, or you in fact need a bios update... but an older CPU like that should have been included in the first BIOS.

Sence trying it I've learned from the Intel sight that the only chip sets that will suport the P4EE are the 925X, 955X and the 975X. My concern is could I have done any damage to the cpu by installing it on a mobo that did not suport it?

probably not...If anything it was undervolted.

I don't think so. You EE should be fine. Unplug your computer from the power outlet. Open up your case and clear the cmos using the clearcmos jumper (study the manual). Wait for a minute, put back the jumper to normal position (again consult manual), double check, then plug to power outlet and turn on. It might come up.
