May seem obvious to some of you..but..

What do I look for in a motherboard? Many seem VERY similiar but may have a 100 dollar price difference, My friend recently got the Biostar Tforce 550 Atx amd motherboard for like ..75 dollars, is this any good for gaming? or would I need something more along the 200 dollar price line? thanks

Still isn't the best one though. Even though you can get a 7950GTX on it, another platform can have 2 7950GTXs, which is better.

also... it has 2 60mm fans onboard and 2 40mm fans for ram cooling and to top it all off...has heat conducting strips to lead the heat to the four corners and if u mod it... u can take off the fan and use a heat pipe to the 2 60mm fans and that would be better...the more pipes the better

They have soft modded ones, and official ones will come out soon. You have to admit, that Abit isn't the best. Abit has gone downhill, they have bad layouts.

Yup, that DFI is much much better than the Abit one. Way better.

The fans don't make the board. The chipset is more important than the fans, and this board uses a much newer chipset which enables much improvements.

What is Nforce 590 SLI INTEL Edition?

God damn, the Fatal1ty is not better! You have to understand, just because there are fans, and it looks cooler, doesn't mean it's better. The DFI doesn't need many fans, it's fine the way it is. There's no point in having fans if you don't need it. I bet the Fatal1ty is louder too. The DFI is much better, and that's it. PERIOD!

Ok...it's just that it seemed you were trying to say the Fatal1ty is better just because of the fans. The DFI overclocks much better. Abit motherboards were like the best before, but they're BIOS writer quit and moved to DFI, that's one reason why DFI has the best overclocking abilities. The DFI supports Conroe too, and DDR2 800.

im just saying im sold on those fans!!! lol i love those fans they are so awesome and dont require like a molex connector and gets power straight from mobo.. and say i was going to mod the stuff and add...say a heatsink and heatpipe to the ram coolers (dreaming) lol

The INTEL 925XE is definately a good chipset and the ABIT board you suggested is definately part of the best. I'm not dissing it, just that there are newer contenders that make seriously capable mobos.

Conroe won't need those fans, believe me, it's not like the P4. And before you'll need fans for your memory, you'll need to buy some seriously expensive sticks and also some add on fans do exist for memory and it's not like it's the most expensive thing.

There's a lot of really good mobos under $200. That Fatal1ty has the 925X chipset right? There are a lot of good mobos under $200, which has the 955X and some 975X chipsets. They're gonna have ones soon that support Conroe, the 965 chipset, and still under $200.
