The GTX 460 is set to have only 768MB of GDDR5 memory, rather than the 1GB of some HD 5770s and of all HD 5850 cards, and will use a 192-bit memory interface, which is wider than the 128-bit bus of the HD 5770 but skinnier than the 256-bit bus of a HD 5850. However, with only 240 stream processors, we find the claims that an overclocked GTX 460 will match a stock-speed GTX 480 rather far-fetched.

Dang, the specs just keep going down. It was supposed to have 256 shaders. I seriously doubt it'll even beat 5770, let alone overclock to anything but GTX 465 max.

The word was they have them already ready, but won't release so they can sell more Fermi first. But GTX 465 being so expensive and this being so weak they aren't even competing with each other.

To me those specs sound more like GTS 450. GTS 250 had 512MB memory and 256bit GDDR3 bus, so that would be an upgrade. Really hope for NVIDIAs sake that this is not indeed GTX 460 as it would be the first DX11 card from them to sell big, but not with those specs..

Well, I guess it should do the job.
This 460 is basically half of a 480, and the 5770 is half of a 5870...

Yes, you'd think that. But with GTX 465 with it's 352 shaders just barely keeping up (on high res) with GTX 280 with it's 240 shaders I'm not so sure :ohwell:

Comes down to how crippled it is and how high it's clocked. Doubt it will be cheaper than 5770, but if it gets close and performance is similar, then it got the job done. Except knowing the current trend of NVIDIA 'lets release our card middle of every ATI card' it will be right in the middle of 5770 and 5830 performance with 5830 price :p

Now if it was 40nm version of GTX 280 with 8800GT price as I hoped couple months back, then it would rock :)

maybe it will also put out half as much heat as GTX 480?
