And in some cases it got LESS FPS.

And that's the precise reason why current drivers should be used, as it gives you the most accurate current results.

And in some cases it got LESS FPS. So yeah running the 10.3 was a waste of time.

Yep, and average of 2% means that overall it was only 2% better. If it was 15% better in one area, that means it was 13% worse in another... Either way, the whole driver argument was a waste of time for the most part, as no one will notice a 2% performance difference.

I don't think that is a dual-GPU block. However, I wouldn't be surprised if a dual GTX470 card came out to at least match the HD5970, from what I've seen it should be possible. I doubt a dual GTX480 is possible right now though.

The GTX470 seems to get the same temps as the GTX480, but has a much weaker heatsink, with a smaller and quieter fan. I think it would be possible for a dual-GPU card based on GTX470 with some beefy cooling.

To me yes, accuracy in a review that is obviously trying to be accurate is paramount.

It also hurt W1zz rep regardless of what we as individuals think, that's certainly important to consider as a professional reviewer is it not?

WTF how does it hurt his rep? Hes ALWAYS done reviews this way. I call BS on any site that claims to have done a PROPER review with 2 day old drivers. I mean really man. You lose on this one.

I'm kinda happy I found a 4870x2 and 4850x2 those together should beat a pair of 480's and I don't need to rent a 12v generator to get my pc to turn on. 320w under load is a wee bit ridiculous hell I remember when I had a fsp 250w add on psu that can't even power one of these cards :shadedshu after so much delay this card should have wiped the floor new drivers or not the 5970x2 performed better 5870 threw a good stab at it and for less money and power consumption I think its a better card hell with an oc the 5870 may actually beat the 480 oc'd. I just think my alnost year old 4870x2 should have been destroyed by both the 5870 and gtx480 not kept up in some games beat them in others that is stupid. Maybe nvidia will fix fermi as it seems the 480 is already a failed version of a bigger card with its core partially shut down. I assume that means rumors of fab issues were true and still exist. Maybe a smaller less complicated die would help 1b more transistors than ati might be an issue. Oh well gtx490 with a fully unlocked gpu should do well against the 5970 doubt it will beat it when both are oc'd but they will do well against each other.

Oh on a lighter not fsp sells a 2000w psu that will be perfect for sli with 3 of these cards

As I said, regardless if what we think. People would of seen him using old drivers and straight away dismissed the review, you can see that in this very topic.

It is not opinion, it is fact that doing it hurt his rep, how much? probably not a lot but damage is damage.

The power draw if your right wouldn't be worth it IMO. I think Fermi is Nvidia stepping stone much like the 2900 was for ATI. I'm willing to bet the next release will be epic from Nvidia.

It'd only be about 60w more than an HD5970, judging by the ~30w more the GTX470 has over the HD5870. And the GTX470's clocks could be lowered also if they are just after matching the HD5970, since the HD5970 has lower clock than an HD5870.

And those people dont have a clue. What would you rather have. FACTS or a bunch of made up shit to sound cool? Yeah thats what I thought.

I think the driver issue has been talked about enough. Everyone can have their own opinion, the two sides of the argument have been stated, there is no need to continue to re-hash it. If we don't have comments about the card, don't post.

You would have seen a 15-20% increase in dirt 2 if you ran it in DX11, just saying..:respect:Unigine 2 has not been benched with 10.3 either from what I can tell.

Lol I didn't even notice the driver "issue" before I started reading this thread .

Doesn't bother the most of us I would believe. 2% overall isn't worth an extra round of work for the reviewer. Looking at the amount of cards and the games they were tested and thinking about the amount of work makes me feel kind of overwhelmed, but also thankful that I can get all these results just by a couple of clicks. That's how I see things. There will always be people that don't realize the amount of work that must go to making a good review, and nitpick about some minor flaws, that in the end don't matter. The difference could be 0.1%, the fans/trolls will always strike :p

Wow, what a bunch of fucking assholes. Wipe the snot off your blubbering vaginas and go get bent with your own review if you don't like this one. It shows a even comparison at low through high game settigns and resolutions, the temps, overclocks, power draw with modern most played games, on a decent system that a good gamer would use to play on.

I benched Heaven 2.0 on 10.3 drivers overclocked, and there is a thread with many other users running stock clocks posting results, so use search.

Did you guys see this????...... I was looking at some of these cards and I noticed that the EVAG F.T.W editions run so hot they require a Water Block. This can't be a good sign!

http://www.evga.com/articles/00539/

Maybe I have that wrong and they are just special editions GTX480/470's and they will come out with a non water blocked FTW version. But I don't think I am wrong about this.

BTW Nvidia What is going to stop us ATI owners just from overclocking a little bit and match the power of the GTX 480. Then we could save our selves $500 Bucks.

Wow do people get defensive about the products they own. Great review on Fermi, I could care less what drivers are used for the other cards. If I'm interested in a review, I'm interested as a potential buyer of reviewed product. This is a very good review I came to the conclusion that my current video card setup is better than this card and I won't be changing anytime soon.

Anyways, many people all over the world have a false sense of entitlement and a false sense of their importance of opinion, you see when they were young thier mommies told them "they can do anything" and gave then anything they want. Now they sit behind their computers all day with overinflated egos and are as useful as a bucket of dirt. People think they matter on the internet. It's all just blablablablablablablablabla.

What is really sad is most people don't know how to criticize constructively. Sitting back in their fake leather chairs, eating Doritos and drinking Mountain Dew, staring at a computer screen, there is no time to learn to be a real critic. Words like, OMG, FAIL, WTF, etc. are the extent of their intelligence.

Great review that includes a wide variety of video cards to compare from a reviewer that I trust. Thanks for all the hard work to give us this free and valuable information! :toast:

Hey w1z I'd love to buy it! Only $15M, right? :)

Seriously, please don't stop doing reviews. But these fanboys are aggravating toolboxes all right. It's just a freakin' video card you losers.
