So you're bashing a card that probably no one in their right mind would purchase, beating a dead horse basically, or complaining about the performance of your 780s?

This thread is confusing :wtf:

(sigh...) the drivers have eked out all the performance increase they can, per model from the Kepler architecture, which is over 3 years old at this point. The rest is up to you. Overclock it if you want more performance. There's nothing actually wrong with the top Keplers, but you can't give them new features that require a certain amount/type of hardware.

If you feel left out, and you shouldn't, you've still got a great card, then go buy a Maxwell and sell yours.

So...... you don't even own the card... what is your horse in this race?

Let me put this another way... Its like buying a car in the last year of its generation and being pissed off that it doesn't have the features of the new generation... Do you honestly expect car MFG to retrofit their old models? Same thing with GPUs.

Come on man, put it in perspective. :)

GTX Titan-Z not a 2 years old. 1 year. GTX Titan-Z for free? lol after bying that card - nvidia must kiss my ass 10-15 year for free, its not a sarcasm.
I understand when old cards and middle can be forgotten by the manufacturer, but very powerful or the most powerful - no, this is totally unacceptable.

Besides it already being pointed out that Maxwell is simply better at tessellation than Kepler you don't really believe that Nvidia will support your GPUs for 10 or 15 years. That would be like trying to make drivers for a 7900 GX2 to optimize it for todays games and it's only 9 years old.

this games patched many times

What game has been patched many times? Witcher released a few days ago and saw some tiny patches. Project CARS released a week ago and saw a few tiny patches, Mortal Kombat X is also only a couple of weeks old, and saw one, maybe two patches. This is not a case of "the game has been patched 20 times, no optimisation can be made to the game, it's all AMD/NVidia's fault".

This is just you being an unreasonable user expecting more than what you paid for. Nothing in life is free. If you can't get your head around that, prepare to make an account on every forum relating to every consumer product you buy, because it's the same case everywhere.

To me it seems that the HD 7970 is faster compared to the GTX 780 than it was two years ago. However, I doubt Nvidia is purposefully ignoring Kepler - AMD likely took just a long while to properly get their drivers optimized for GCN. The GTX 680 beat the HD 7970 when it was released, and now it looks like it's of little contest.

To clarify, I'm not complaining - I don't have a Kepler GPU so I don't really care that much, but I felt like I'd point out something in those charts.

Honestly it's OP's fault for buying a horrid card to begin with when the R9295x was already a stronger card at launch for half the price. Your fault for not doing your research.

in this case need only driver optimisation, this games patched many times. then nvidia sells overpriced junk yes, for all old games. and no for all new games.

- Nvidia sells overpriced junk. Titan-Z is the prime example. If you don't use Titan-Z for anything other than gaming, you have thrown away a shitload of money. Congratulations on figuring that out AFTER your purchase. This really says it all and ends the discussion right there. YOU failed to do your research.
- Optimization happens for an architecture, not on a per-game basis. The game ready drivers add compatibility bits that are required for newer games. At some point most or all compatibility bits are in the driver. For Kepler this is the case, any further gains are going to be minimal or are no longer worth the investment. That said, you buy that card with the driver it has on RELEASE, with the performance that it offers on RELEASE. Anything you gain over time is a bonus, not something you should 'expect'.

Can we close this worthless thread now?

Okay. Optimizations don't happen per architecture. This is also the reason Kepler is now in a discontinued / finalized state and Maxwell is currently the arch getting optimized.

Sense, it makes none.

Sure it does... We didn't blow $1K on a dual GPU monster to run at, what can now be considered in some titles, a CPU limited resolution. Perhaps if the purchase was more appropriate for the resolution and perhaps a modern architecture card, your feelings would be a bit more tempered on the subject. ;)

Like I said, you don't buy a last gen car and expect the company to retrofit it with new technology. Same concept here bub.

Sell that thing and get a 980. Problem solved AND you have spending cash...

i dont say that. 3K $ cost Titan-Z stop counting my money. where do im want - there and spend. it's not your business

You really didn't see the hundreds of posts here at TPU alone that said the Titan Z was a waste of money if it were just for gaming and a waste anyway if for work also because you could get 2 Titan Blacks that outperformed a Titan Z for around a $1,000 less.

Let us help you pick out your next GPU. You will be better off.

What kind of math is that?

100-82=18%
129-119=10%

Sure there is a little slip in relative performance, but the OP is claiming the 7970 is now faster than the 780. There is nothing that proves that.

The small shift in relative performance can easily be attributed to the fact that AMD has finally started to work with game developers, so there are more games that favor AMD now than there were back in 2013. Remember back in 2013 how there were a lot of games with an nVidia logo, an pretty much none that with an AMD? Now there are quite a few that AMD has worked with and we see the AMD Gaming Evolved logo "on the box".

3K $ cost

Titan-Z stop counting my money. where do im want - there and spend. it's not your business
$3K, LOL, even worse!! You could have bought 2 980s (or at that time 2/3 780 6GB), a 4K monitor and not be in this position. Its clear you should ask this forum for help next time you make a purchase. It will likely same you some angst in the long run.

With respect, you made it our business by ranting here in public at TPU. And some of your anger over the situation is because of the amount of money you spent on the card.

EDIT: But, its all water under the bridge now... you made your bed, and hate sleeping in it... and I do understand, but, it could have been prevented.

You have some odd expectations like you live in a completely different reality or dimension.

Troll is having a nice meal today, is the feeling I'm getting now.

Might as well be talking to a brick wall. I'm the first to offer an explanation, I'm also the first to point out ignorance. Sorry.
