nVidia GTX200~ why not DX10.1?

can some one tell me the reason behind not supporting DirectX 10.1?

nVidia didn't think the GT200 needed it and Microsoft isn't supporting anymore DX Updates until DX 11. think about it there isn't many games that even support DX 10.0, and only 1 Game supported DX 10.1 Assassin's Creed but they removed it in a patch because of issues lol.

I think they should support 10.1 because by doing so they will make their cards future proof ,,,

If a card is made for DX10 then will it support games earlier then 10??

we all know what those issues were !! lol ! Nvidia coudn't see ati cards performing better AA and getting better imgae quality in that game with DX10.1 .

goes to raise the question, how in the hell a game under TWIMTBP program managed to slip under nvidia's noses with DX10.1 . I mean if nvidia are involved with the development why didn't they know that ubisoft had DX10.1 in that game ?

apparently the GT300 is going to support DX 10.1, yes. you can install the DX 10.1 driver if you have a DX 10 card it just wont utilize the features.

yes. but you can't run DX 9 games on DX 10 and this pisses game developers off to no end because they have to write support for both now.

That's where I see the problem really, like said, so many more games have DX9 capable cards out there..and DX9 has proven itself for years now...DX10 is getting better, but nothing like what was promised, 10.1 and in the future 11...that's just too much, they should've stuck to putting everything in 10 they initially should've even if it meant a longer wait on the release of the 2900's and 8800's that came out.

But I'm sure there is some sort of compiling to help with coding, and the games to do both DX9 and DX10 are getting better and better, within a couple of years DX10 may be larger, 10.1 too...and 11 will be fresh, with people lining up to buy DX11 cards that will be replaced before more than half a dozen games that "might" support even a little DX11 action...who knows for sure, but if 10.1 and 11 follow DX10 trends, it's gonna be more selling gimmicks like DX10 was for a long time than an actual feature for making gaming experiences better. Just my 2 cents tho!

DX10 cards support DX9, 8, 7, etc.

Why make DX10.1 cards if DX10 is going to be obsolete within months anyway? Not exactly future proof now is it?
