because others were dropping out of selling NV cards?
Bigger profit margin for NVIDIA to make them???
This could be interesting...
well well let see what happen next
Not surprising considering they make most of the cards anyway and most of the add-in partners just slap stickers on them...
FUCK I looked before I posted this again....
FAIL your not in the Nvidia Section CD.....I'm not admitting to being late tonight....
Yeah you gotta search. I have been bitten by just looking too.
Definitely interesting news.
I figured i'd post this in the General Hardware section for more people to view, as opposed to those few who are frequent visitors of the Nvidia subforum.
But NVIDIA, like AMD, has been a direct seller of enterprise products (Quadro and Tesla) since forever.
i'll take a bowl of grey legos with my nvidia cards please
interesting move for the geforce department, given quadro/tesla are nvidia direct anyway.
love the original look, better than annoying cyborg frogs stickers
Reminds me of 3dfx.... difference is that nv still have board partners.
I wouldn't make too much of it - probably filling a gap for a large B&M retailer left by BFG's demise. I doubt you'll see them anywhere else.
Wish my card was an Nvidia branded one instead of PNY. Who ever slapped the stickers on for them must have been drunk that day. I like that cleaner look on the Nvidia brand cards.
wonder what the warranty and CS is like
I like this idea. I honestly hope they revise the plain jane however. nothing drastic maybe just geforce in metallic green next to those vertical nike marks.
in all seriousness for $700 i better get something other than flat black. I'm a bit biased though, im only in it for the stickers anyway.
I like the idea of buying "nvidia made" cards instead of a partner and prefer the design. However, 3dfx did this a decade ago, pissed off their board partners and went under. :shadedshu They got bought out and shut down by nvidia, ironically enough...
We all know the current troubles that nvidia is currently having, so I wonder if this is a response to that? I hope they don't go under for the sake of competition.
it will be good for consumers if warranty will be more than 2 years as they won't dissapear like BFG...
Technically though ATi, now AMD predated them already, albeit on the OEM side. All Acer pre-builts that have ATi/AMD cards didn't come from any AIB's.
Yeah, that is a very good point, since Best Buy almost exclusively carried BFG cards, at least all the Best Buys around me, with a few PNY cards mixed in every now and then...
hmm I certainly miss the built by ati cards as the warranty service was top notch and sapphire manufactured them so the quality was good as well.
so with nv doing it direct I'd be curious what the warranty looked like and how service went. If they merely exanded their enterprise service dept you'll be getting one awesome service experience. If they built it new for this purpose we'll have to wait and see.
I always prefer to buy direct when i can so I hope it's more than a best buy exclusive.

[H] is now reporting that nVidia has also dropped XFX as an "Approved Partner".
I think there may be MORE news to follow soon.
