That's right, i won't be upgrading my monitor so 1440x900 is max i will go for. Lower resolutions welcomed.
To be very frank i am being paranoid for PhysX.

Keep in mind though, Metro will make a 560 cry especially with physx on. I turn off Depth of Field and physx on my 6970 and can use vsync and keep it at 60fps *most*, not all of the time.

I'll be the voice of reason here and say that there is no reason to spend $230 on a video card for the resolution you plan to use. Something like a HD5770, which costs around $100 in the US, is a big upgrade over your 9600GT without being overkill on your wallet.

So you mean to say in a price of 150$ or below, for my resolution i can get a pretty decent card which will play all the current games at max res. for my monitor with all the eye candy enabled ?

That's game dependent. UT, sure. Metro, no way.

That is beautiful. I would love a setup like that, but I don't have the space...yet;)

Oh don't worry. You wont be playing Metro 2033 decent on ANYTHING in the 230 range.

Oh of course you can play decent on 230 range of today. At his resolution. You just have to disable DX11 depth of field. I played it perfectly on my GTX460.

Seriously DX11 depth of field has a massive performance drop which is totally useless IMO. DOF in Crysis was a lot better than DX11 DOF as seen in Metro, AvP, Stone Giant DX11 demo... AND most importantly performance drop was nowhere as high. Not even tesselation has such a massive performance hit.

Maxed out or GTFO. I don't spend all this money on a rig to turn stuff off.
    Champ and AlienIsGOD say thanks.

But that's the difference. He is not spending so much money. I did not spend much money. And you did not say play it maxed out, you said decent. I'd say that everything on (physx included) except DOF is more than just decent.

You still get DOF just not the advanced one that is new to DX11. I don't have Metro anymore but here's some StoneGiant screenshots that clearly show wnat I'm talking about.

    Tesselation and advanced DOF disabled:

Notice that we do have DOF. 119 fps.

    Tesselation enabled. Advanced DOF disabled:

20% performance hit in exchange for a much better picture. Totally worth it.

    Advanced DOF enabled. Tesselation disabled:

64 fps WTF. That's a cut in half. And IMO it looks worse!!

    Both

Why are we still here? OP wants a card which does PhysX and folding, for the budget of $230. The only card which fits the criteria is the GTX560Ti, and its a good card at that. There is no need for fancy arguments like DoF and Tesellation etc, because OP will be happy with his new card, that is something I can guarantee.

Thanks Champ. I was going to buy an extra HD6850 but I decided to try Eyefinity instead. I got the two secondhand monitors and the VGA>DP adaptor for about $110. The second hand monitors are nothing special, but you never really look at them. It has made gaming feel fun again, like when I was younger. I game much more now.

For your res I would look at the 550ti and 560ti, all depends on what your willing to pay.

Get the 560Ti, it is a powerful card doing great even if you upgrade your monitor down the road and the whole system. Even at your res I wouldn't get a 150$ card, it's just not worth it.

GeForce GTX560Ti for 230 bucks? The cheapest i could find here is for around 200 € ($296). I think for that kind of money you'd get GTX 460 which is around on the level of HD5850 or HD6850.
Though i'd certainly take the GTX 560 Ti at this point. GTX 460 is last gen so why not take the latest instead. Besides, GTX 560 Ti is around the HD6870 / HD6950 level which is much better.
