I think it makes more sense to wait till the "real" DirectX 10 games are out. Its still a while longer for Crysis, but I think that one would be alot happier to save now and avoid the risk of blowing money/not getting the performance you hoped for.

it all depends on your CPUs compatibilty. i had nothing but problems with the ATI cards. for 2 years i had an ATI card problem and nobody from their tech department would help me out. any game i played over the internet was crashing after 5 minutes of play. later i found out that i had some device interfering with the I/O or this device was draining power from my graphics card without even knowing it. i opted to try out the nvidia's and i love them.

remember this, ATI has one of the worst tech supports ive ever scene. unless they've greatly improved since their merged with Althon, dont expect any help. Nvidia has a much better system in place and they accually help you with other issues aswell.

lol at the title, neither matrox ftw! jk.

no I'd say for 200$ an 8600gts would probably be the best deal.

Normaly, I'd agree, especialy if DX10 was ever a consideration...

Look at the list of games hes going to be using it with. For $200, your money would be much better spent on a 7900 series or X1950 series video card. By the time DX10 becomes more commonplace, the only video card series that will be a viable option for gaming in todays current market will either be the Geforce 8800 series or Radeon HD 2900 series.
