OCZ Technology Group today announced the release of all-new additions to the Silencer line of power supplies from PC Power & Cooling including a 500W EPS12V and Dell compatible model. The efficient and economical 370W, 420W, and 500W Silencers offer mainstream system builders and professionals a robust power resource at an affordable price point.

Continuing a twenty-three year history of technical innovation and industry leadership, PC Power & Cooling designed the Silencer 370, 420, and 500 with a single +12 Volt Rail for optimum power distribution to all components. All the new Silencer models are certified under the 80+ efficiency program so they run cool and save on utility power.

"I am pleased that PC Power & Cooling is able to offer exceptional Silencer series performance and reliability at such an affordable price point, " stated Doug Dodson, founder of PC Power & Cooling and CTO of Power Management for the OCZ Technology Group. "The Silencer line now offers every type of computer user an option for the premium power management of their system."

The Silencer 370, 420, and 500 offer a range of power for mainstream gaming, home theatre, and work station PCs. The 500W series features a specialized Dell version that allows Dell owners to upgrade their systems with the latest components including any of the new power-hungry high-performance video cards. Ideal for PC users who prefer a straight-forward, value-minded PSU, the Silencer 370, 420, and 500 provide cool, quiet, and reliable power.

The lower wattage configurations provide the necessary power for desktop computing setups, ensuring you won’t pay extra for a higher wattage unit that would be overkill for a modern mainstream system. Even at peak loads, the new Silencer series, with its ultra-quiet fan and proprietary inlet design, remains virtually silent, ideal for media PCs and noise-conscious environments.

All Silencer power supplies are backed by a leading 5-Year warranty commitment and the in-depth knowledge of PC Power & Cooling technical support.

The latest Silencer products can be viewed at http://www.pcpower.com.

This looks like a top shelf psu! 35A on the single 12V, PFC, 82% efficiency, 100,000 MTBF, 5yr. warranty. This is more like what I wanted when I bought my 470. I filled in the gap when the 610 when it became available, with no complaints @ $120. The 500 a sub $100 psu? With it's specs and it's possible price point, it will be a worthy psu. :toast:

PC P&C doesnt do Modular cabling. This is nice, I really liked their first 500w psu back in the day. Im glad to see more affordability for the mainstream user.

...but is it quiet, compared to let's say a Corsair?

Woo hoo! It is about time these guys put out more affordable power supplies. This will add to the competition in the sometimes scary low-end range for power supplies. I may be able to finally justify buying my first PC Power and Cooling product!! :)

By the way, I see they offer a 5 year warranty on these units. That tells me that they are still using quality parts to build them. ;)

It's a Seasonic. Same platform as the Corsair HX520. Good, but it's not like it's a Turbo Cool. Just a guess, but I would imagine that the 120MM+ cooled Seasonic PSU's are still going to be quieter than this "Silencer".

hehe, figures... I just bought the older 470 yesterday. Any idea how long it should take for these things to hit the market?

It looks like they're all under $100 btw... just noticed they sell direct and their price tag for the 500 is $99.00

When you click on the link above, it looks like you can buy direct now from them. Might take awhile for the distributors to get their hands on them.......

Im sad OCZ bought them... Looks like PC Power & Cooling is gonna be just like all the rest.

One of the things I loved about my 510 was "It RULED!" is wasent just good, or like the rest It fricken Ruled.

I think its a shame to see a Top End Product be brought into just the Good or Average market.

Well the HX650 is a 100 after mail in rebates, so why wouldnt people just go for that instead, one of the most stable and impressive on the market.
