Oddworld: Soulstorm

Just saw this popup on my Facebook.

Judging by the style of the page it seems like a much darker game which is great as Oddworld is an incredibly dark world.

I'm very excited. Thought New 'N' Tasty was great so got high hopes for this. What do you all think?

EDIT: Christ that image was bigger than expected, ill edit. How on earth do you change the size of an included image? Is it even possible on TPU? Tried setting width and height inside the IMG tag but it just breaks.

The only Oddworld I've played is Stranger's Wrath, which I quite enjoyed.

I played to the first one again a couple of months ago.

After sveral attempts i still couldn't manage to save enough mudokons so i did not get to see the happy ending : it's always a one way ticket to the meat grinder for me :/

I'll be looking for this new episode, thanks for sharing !

Only played the first two games, don't think ive ever saved them all. For me the Abe games were my child-hood. Me and dad used to play through them and then argue when we both got stuck.

Found on Steam a while ago they ported the first two over to build hype for new n tasty. To the point it still had all the original PS1 button images etc.

However i recently found a secret area on the first game If you don't find it i don't believe you can save all mudokons. (Don't click if you dont want to know.)

After the first cut scene where you drop through the caves and land in the first area. There is a barrel on the right, crouch behind it and drop down to a secret area.

I think the biggest thing i liked about them is the feel of scale. They were only flat platformers but the artwork for the backgrounds and cut scenes made each screen feel huge. The one with the feeco trains all waiting at some form of hub. Whoever designed those trains is a genius, they looked brilliant.

Thought this was a good comparison of new n tasty vs the original.

Yea i see your point though, the whole shadow, flickering static, half visible alien form is nothing new. If it does point to a slightly darker aesthetic though for Soulstorm then i think that's good because lets face it the original games were dark.

Well they released some art for abe's hand. There isn't much else at the moment so hell were all going to look at a hand. Why is his little finger missing?

Oh wait, just seen a tweet. There going to be releasing an image of his chest tattoo soon, I'm sure that'll be exciting.

Yea i feel the teaser is a little lack luster, considering how good New N Tasty was and obviously the originals i really want this to do well.

They've now got some merch listed on there too.
