How many of you remember the old "Omgea Drivers" for ATI/AMD and Nvidia? Man those tweaked drivers rocked and they were the sole effort of one man that got approval and license from ATI at the time to create the tweaked version. My Omgea Driver load increased FPS by 7FPS minium.

Well, I haven't had an ATI/AMD card in years so I kind of forgot about the Omgea drivers but when talking to a friend about them I went back to the Omega Drivers website and found this > http://www.omegadrivers.net/index.php?option=com_alfcontact&Itemid=104

This just another example how the 2011 economy hit us all. It was really sad to read that post and my heart goes out to the champion and creator of Omega drivers. If you've ever downloaded and benefited from Omega drivers for ATI and Nvidia please take a minute to go by the site and click on "contact us" and just send a simple letter of thanks for all his efforts over the years. With the guy loosing his house and not having much to show for, it a simple show of gratitude from the tech community he helped to support with Omgea drivers could go a long way.

I for one say thank you Angle "Omgeadrive" from Trinidad, and God Bless you too. I pray and hope you're up on your feet again soon.

Yeah, this happened months ago. It made me sad. I loved many of his early modified drivers. Always very stable.

I wish him all the best but i think all the modded drivers are vaporware. Modded to work on laptops, ok. But drivers that miraculously give performance. Nah. I've tried different ones and none has ever provided any measurable performance gain. Besides, if there were any room left, don't you thing original driver maker would use that?

Did you ever try the Omgea drivers back in the day almost 10 years ago ? If not then it's really not fair to compare them based on other failed drivers. Omega drivers started way back in the day when there were so many problems, bad code and head room in a driver you could fit King Kong under it. Honestly, I don't think you're knowledge is that great and extensive to comment on a product you never tried but i could be wrong. But wait, how do I know you probably never tried them? Because the truth is had you tired them you like the other posters would know they were great drivers...that some people reported 20% FPS increases and that they did work great.

Ps. Back in the day when the ATI drivers were sucky and with constent problems the Omega drivers fixed all that and he also put overclocking settings in the driver way long ago.and OMG omega drivers were anything BUT vaporware to work in laptops.. I think your letting recent years make you forget that there was an era of PC equipment and gaming before xbox and the I7 lol ...The Omgea drivers if anything were created to deal with driver issues way back in 8000 all in wonder days of ATI and I believe the Omega drivers STARTED the whole modded driver thing over 10 years ago when they were anything BUT vaporware. If other wannabe driver mods copied and failed it's not Omegas fault. lol They even had softmods addins for flashing older ATI video card bios' to other specs and this was way back in 2002 we are talking before that was even mainstream!!! lol omega = vaporware that's funny...Omega practically started driver modding, all the rest just imitated. Also, "the original driver manufacture" (ATI) had horrible problems with catalyst and if it weren't for Omega drivers helping them out they would have crashed and burned. Since being in IT I talk to users all the time and some have even said "oh yea, I couldn't even get my ATI card to work until I downloaded Omega drivers". Also, did I not say that he was "LICENSED BY ATI" to work on the Omega drivers... wouldn't that imply ATI did work with him in collaberation or couldn't fix it themselves and turn to him ??

Also, even Nvidia boasts increased FPS in certain games each time they update a driver. Updating drivers is very often a way to squeeze out more FPS...IN FACT, if you read the latest Nvidia driver update notes it says the latest patch is primarily to work better with Mass Effect 3 and increases it's FPS by x~FPS and they state the increase; SOOOoooo, if you've never seen a driver increase FPS or as you put it "miraculously give performance" then I think you must not update your junk or live in a closet lol. I don't know what your expierence is but I have 10 years certified as a hardware tech and hardware specialist and back in the day the Omega drivers were a huge improvement and i'm not the only one that thought so... I mean for real, the post was barely on and already 3 posts of people saying they remember using those way back in the day and in highschool.. shouldn't that tell YOU something?

so again, unless you tried the Omega drivers and can speak directly on those, I would not try to even compare them or impress me with your "other driver" attempts, especially on a page trying to give credit where credit is due to the "original driver modder" man that created the highly successful and agreed apon Omega drivers... translation = please know what the heck your talking about or atleast have first hand knowledge of the product in question before you post " bla bla look at me" based on other product knowledge that are probably recent year poorer comparrisons to the original "back in the day real deal" that driver mod that Omega was..., I see you joined here in 2004 but that doesn't mean you can accurately comment on a product you probably didn't use. Or, that just because I joined only last month I can't tell you're full of it... lol www.omegadrivers.net

Thank you.:nutkick::rockout:

I started with Omega drivers way back for the voodoo 3. Like was posted above he fixed a load of problems and always gave a significant improvement in Fps.

i continued to work with his drivers through a voodoo 5, and a geforce 4 ti4400. Until i finally worked out how to convince the Geforce 4 drivers to install as a quadro card instead. This was the hayday for omega drivers. The current trend for drivers actually been decent enough only to require micro transition updates has sort of killed off his trade. There was a time when installing a different driver changed a whole heap, In fact i remember on the Geforce 4 having drivers that came from nvidia that changed the whole appearance of games as they dumbed down textures and added script to try be the fastest card in benchmarks! Omega drivers always gave a balance of performance to power, and gave you the options to change the settings without having to have 3 programs running at once!

sorry but your wrong mate, i upp driver every Beta and have often noticed a decent leap in performance ,especially when everything is on ie AA, morpho etc and i too used hacked drivers often back in the day, prob still would if anyone modded them?
they did work better, often more stable, and farcry was it farcry? anyway a few games ran and looked better:)

Thanks The1aOMrk

I think this kid is confusing the water downed x1000 laptop driver era that was in 2008, way after with the original years the omega released... by that time all that was left for Omega to do was mod the the laptops lol Imo.

Wow voodoo 5, that was in the day wasn't it ? :) thanks Iceni.
I used Omega drivers exclusively back in my 9500Pro/9700Pro/9800Pro days, they most definitely did offer benefits over the stock drivers back then. Not just in performance improvements, but in IQ and stability in a lot of cases. It is definitely sad to see him go.

agreed, in all honesty I felt bad that of years of using his products never helped with donations... I feel like a dirt bag :(

Um, how about a 9500 unlock just by installing a driver that also came bundled with some of the best overclocking tools among many other things.

I used them for years, and learned alot about how to edit drivers from his work.

afaik omega didn't do any modding to the driver binaries. unwinder and i released two separate 9500 to 9700 driver mods. omega used one of those

I thought Omega had soft mod add-ins for flashing an 8600Gt to an 8800GT or something like that years ago. I'm not sure if he created the mods or just had a way to add them in through the install gui. I do remember the proceedure and the install package letting you choose a different driver if your were softmoding/flashing ... i'd have to look back at it.

ps props on being and OG driver modder yourself :)
