Only Detects Intel 4600 Not GTX 750 - NEW PC

I just bought a Zeus Mini i300 from Best Buy. Was an Online Only purchase otherwise I'd have gotten it in-store.

PC arrived today, set it up and it will not detect the GTX 750. it only detects the Intel Integrated HD card on the mobo. Not sure what to do, I've tried a number of things and my computer doesn't even detect the GTX 750. In GPU-z only the Intel HD shows up. I don't know if this is a factor but upon first boot, I had the monitor plugged into the mobo i.e. Intel HD. Whenever I try to plug into the GPU, be it HDMI or regular cable that came with the monitor, there is nothing but darkness. Tried to install Nvidia drivers, it cannot detect hardware. In the BIOS it's under PEG instead of IGD but still nothing. When I boot up with the cable plugged into the slot for the GPU, I cannot even see the BIOS. It's just a dark screen. My last resort was to try Windows Update, and it downloaded some nVidia apater/drivers right now for the GTX 750. Updates were a success, apparently, yet in device manager I still only see the Intel 4600 and when trying to manually install the Nvidia driver that I downloaded from their website, it says "could not find compatibable hardware". I am at a loss and this is a completely new system. Under device manager, when I click to show hidden items, it does show the GTX 750 and says it is not properly connected (code 45).

My friend and I tried to do some troubleshooting and now the GTX 750 doesn't even show up under hidden devices.

As soon as I plug into the MSi GTX 750 slot, HDMI or regular cable from the monitor, doesn't matter...no input. BIOS is set to PEG and not IGD. Doesn't matter, it just defaults to the Intel 4600.

Whenever I try to install drivers it just says it doesn't detect the hardware. I am at a loss and by no means an expert in any of this. I am not sure if maybe the GPU came loose during transit, it was packaged pretty tight but you never know. I tried to open the case, unscrewed what was holding the side panels and legit I feel like I force it, as it's feeling like I have to, it will break. I used some force to try and get it off, nothing.

I really do appreciate any help provided. I am just at a loss and so disappointed and deflated right now. I was really excited for this PC.

Any ideas?

The OP said the machine works fine without the GTX 750, unless it has a dead PCIe slot.

If I looked up the the correct specs for your computer, I seriously doubt that 200 watt PSU has enough power to run that computer and the GTX 750 video card, regardless of how power efficient it is. You can try the card out in another computer to see if you got a bad card or not, but I don't think the card is the issue, and I don't think there is a problem with the PC.

I did made a thread on their forums with the exact same OP and sent an email to them. Their Live Chat, I was on "hold" for about 3 hours. I don't think they even have anyone on there.

I called Best Buy just now and she told me I can return it within 14 days, even if it's been opened. So I guess there is that. But will I take the chance to re-order? I don't know. I really wanted this PC though and it's only sold online.

I would have ordered from them directly but I am in Canada. They charge $100 shipping fees and on top of that customs will surely hold it because of the value so they can slap on some tax on it. I would be waiting for quite some time.

Just completely at a loss. Never had this happen before. I can't even get the damn case open despite unscrewing the screws at the back, so I can't even get a look at the GPU to see if maybe it somehow became loose and that is why it's not being detected. PC works like a dream except for the GTX 750 not being detected upon first boot.

PSU is 350W. Here is the exact model I bought:

Wait, it came with a GTX 750 in it already?

Yes, it came fully built. I just had to plug it in.

Cyperpowerpc ships it with a 350W PSU and the GTX 750. I looked up the requirements for the GTX 750 before I bought this system, it requires a 300W PSU. And others have been able to run it with a similar PSU. Maybe you are correct though but it would be quite foolish of them, themselves, to build it with that card when it cannot even power it.

I can't try it in another PC because I don't have another PC. Just an ASUS G53JW laptop and Macbook. This PC was me going back to desktops after 4 years. :/ Great start.

then yeah, I'd do like @brandonwh64 suggests, return it and get another.

Might have to...I don't even know what the issue is.

Best Buy said I can return it even though I opened it but if I want a new one, I'd have to re-order it online again. So I re-order it online and just hope it doesn't have the same issue?

Doesn't seem very....efficient. But I had my heart set on this model as it's entirely within my budget and has good specs that fit the config I want (Intel/Nvidia).

I just don't understand it. I went into "uninstall programs" and the Nvidia drivers are there in some form, it shows they were installed on June 19, 2014. Here we are September 8, 2014 and the GPU seems to not even be present. When I try to update them via the Nvidia drivers I installed "cannot detect compatible hardware".

I would expect them to test the ins and outs of the system before shipping make sure both the 750 and Intel integrated graphics work.

I really do not know what happened. I don't think they did because, well, it's Best Buy.

Ordered it Thursday in the evening. Shipped out Friday afternoon. Arrived today. Upon first boot...no GTX 750, only the Intel 4600. I doubt it makes a difference but maybe it does, my friend did ask, when I first booted I plugged the monitor into the mobo, so it worked with the 4600 upon first boot.

The 750 was under hidden devices with the error code of 45 and that it at some point did work but currently it does not. We tried various troubleshooting techniques and as of right now, the GTX 750 doesn't even show up under hidden devices. It's just gone.

This is odd and really frustrating. Is this sounding like a DOA GPU? Did something come loose? I mean everything else works perfect, it's just the 750.

Yeah, I was worried before I made the purchase. I don't have the time or know-how really to build my own PC. Cyperpowerpc is the next best thing. Look what came of it.

Have bought PC's from there before but never online. This was an online-only offer and I could not find it anywhere else. Decided to go for it.

Here is the result...system works great....GPU is just, who knows what it is, but not working. I guess I could leave the system and try to replace the GPU but thing is, what if that still doesn't work (maybe it's the mobo?) and I have already invested money into this system. The case isn't that big so I might even have to go out and find a new one just to replace the GPU, even if it's the same one.

I just don't know so I guess I will return and forget about a new desktop for awhile. This was the best price for these components I could find in my budget (under 1K). I just shelled out a ton for uni textbooks so.

What a disappointment. I was looking forward to a new desktop with these specs. I have been on an ASUS G53JW for the past 4 years with aging hardware (GTX 460M, i7 1.73 GHz, 6 GB's) and I really needed something new.

First - don't panic.
Second - can you post a picture of how the PC connectors in the back look like?
Third - since BB sold the PC, they might be able to open the PC and check if the GPU is seated properly, call them to confirm.

And please use this site's own image hosting to post the pictures.

I pretty much already packaged it up and admitted defeat but if anyone else is still willing to help, I'll do my best. I have a picture I took to send a friend when we were trying to fix it.

I know these pictures are not the best. I can take it out again if needs be and try to get better ones. When that picture was taken the HDMI plug was still in there, it was a bitch to get it out but I didn't stick anything in there to try to. I used tweezers and pulled it out. The problem was there even before, too. As I used the cable from the monitor initially and it gave me a blank screen. I can only see if I am plugged into the HDMI or regular slot on the mobo for the Intel card.

Anything in the GPU and it goes dark.

With respect to the images, the GPU is at the top and not at the bottom. Mobo is at the bottom.

The BIOS were quite odd, too. My friend is much more experience with this than I am and he said for such a PC and hardware, they are really quite limited.

According to Cyperpwerpc, opening it does not void their warranty as it is a "custom-built" PC. With best Buy, it probably will. That is why I do not want to risk opening it, especially since I can't easily slide the side-panel off on either side. I unscrewed both thumbscrews but it's really not coming off even with some force. I am afraid if I use more, it will break and then I truly will be shit out of luck with Best Buy.

I really do like this PC though, the look, the hardware...just wish the GPU worked. :/

Well, I know there are better specs and better cases. But this is the best I can manage on my budget (under 1k so before taxes and all that, it'd have to be around the $800 range) and I do not have the time or knowledge to build my own. Just started my last year of uni and spent quite a lot on textbooks.

This was the best Intel/Nvidia config I could find from at least some store I could physically walk into, in Canada.

now I realize this is without a keyboard, mouse monitor but I hope this puts it in perspective on just how overprice prebuilt is and if you need it to be cheaper you can make it so off hand I could probably shave it down to 1000 and still manage to keep the same level of performance as well as throw a monitor kbmouse in
if you can use a Philips head screw driver you can build your own pc

It's still out of my budget. Do you think you could find me components that would be around $800, $900 max so that it's around 1k with shipping. Prefer Intel/Nvidia hardware rather than AMD.

It would have to be Newegg.ca, too. I sound very demanding right now for someone who needs help but I have never built my own PC before. Just don't have the time or knowledge at the moment which is why I went pre-built.

It would have to be Newegg.ca, too. I sound very demanding right now for someone who needs help but I have never built my own PC before. Just don't have the time or knowledge at the moment which is why I went pre-built.
dude this is what TPU is for gimme a few min ill tweak the build out

Based on the pics, my guess is the GPU is attached using a riser cable and it might be either loose or dying. Call BB and see if they open it up and see if there is anything that needs to be reseated. That way u can make sure its not a simple issue.

I just got off the phone with them after several transfers and holds.

Finally spoke to someone who knows what I am talking about. He said for sure, bring it in have them take a look at it maybe it's something simple like it came loose but if it's something that will require overhaul your best bet is to return it. I agreed.

So hopefully it just came loose and they can fix it.

I hope it is, too.

The guy I spoke to sounded like he actually knew what the hell I was talking about and agreed with me that's the way to do it. If they can open it up and fix it right there, why return when solution could be so simple. If it needs a complete overhaul and they suggest take it to manufacturer or this and that, maybe best to return and either get something else or re-order again.

That's what I'll do, we'll see what happens. Will report back in this thread once I am done with Best Buy. I really appreciate all the responses. I feel much better now that I have a direction and a possible solution.

I am just glad that Best Buy has a physical store I can actually walk into to return this.
