Options motherboard died

Hello my motherboard took a dump this morning It's diagnosed as the usb controller on the board.

1. My options right now are to get the same exact motherboard.

2. Could I use my hard drive in a different motherboard without driver issues, or am i able to fix the driver problems?

3. Is there a program out that that can make a recovery disk to reinstall my os onto a spare computer?

What driver problems?
Probably reuse hdd with no issues.
Why not install with original o/s ?

I diagnosed it this morning 6 beeps on asus motherboard tried a different usb keyboard. Asus said its the usb controller on the motherboard.

Wouldnt there be driver problems if i used a new motherboard with my hard drive?

Not if you use the same exact motherboard. The drivers will all be in the OS on your hard drive. The only thing you'll have to do is set your UEFI/BIOS options the same as they were before.

EDIT: I've done this myself. If it is the same, exact motherboard, no issues at all. Just start it up as before.

Sometimes. A lot of the time you can get away with it in honesty, particularly if you buy from a similar brand. There are exceptions however. Upgrading my old AM3+ system from an Asus Evo to an Asus Sabertooth caused BSOD on boot and required a fresh install. Every other system I've built however (about 4 in the last 2-3 years), and I never had to install a fresh OS.

If you have your license key for your OS, there are a number of places you can download the ISO from and burn to a disk/USB stick yourself.

Updated system specs, I have all the os licenses etc. Its one of my many computers at work so downtime is super important without having to reinstall programs of course.

I believe Asus will overnight me a motherboard but they have to process the rma so itll probably be next week. Also found out the warranty ended 5 days ago lol we'll see how that goes. Was hoping for a quicker solution for today or tomorrow lol

I changed from Asrock to Gigabyte AM3+ motherboard and had no issues. Only the usb3 controller was different and I had to install the new drivers. I have also dumped my windows 7 installation from my workstation (dell) to my ultrabook (Acer) but intel but one i5 1st Gen the other ULV ivy and had no problem booting but had to reinstall specific drivers like lan/wlan/bluetooth.

I'm confused. You state in point one of the original post your only option is the same exact motherboard. Then you ask about new motherboard. Which way are you seeking advice on?

Based on your opening post, I interpreted "new" as a replacement, new motherboard, not a different motherboard.

In the end it shouldn't matter as either way it will work. Only problem would be if he has raid

What ever option is quicker and with the least amount of problems. If my only solution is to use the same motherboard I have no choice but to wait. If i can go and purchase a new motherboard with only 1 day downtime I will do that.

You can, If you want to be certain look up the specs of your asus board and the other boards available to be sure that things like Audio, lan and usb are the same chips. Mosf of the time they will be at least from the same company (realtek, intel, via)

Depends on which is more important to you. Your two requirements are mutually exclusive. "Quicker" will likely involve a driver update or two, so a little effort is involved. "Least amount of problems" is putting same motherboard in, attaching everything to it and starting up where you left off.

I can deal with updating some drivers, my fear is worrying about tons of blue screens from a new motherboard.

If you have problems with your new motherboard (you shouldn't) what you can also do is run this command on any of the other identical PCs:

\Windows\System32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /oobe /generalize /shutdown

This will make the windows install to run the first time setup next time it runs and should fix any blue screens

Also windows was updating then it restarted and thats when the problems started. Do you think there will be any problems with the new motherboard and windows was installing updates ?

You said you have several identical machines right? why dont you stick the hard disk in one of them atm (and disconnect there the current hdd) and let the updates finish
