My cpu temp, according to Real Temp, is only about 53 C at 100% load on all 4 cores of my Q6600. This is after overclocking it from 2.4 ghz to 3.2 ghz.

The thing is it was running at about 53 C back when i was at 2.4. It makes me think the OC didn't work. CPU-z says I'm running at 3.2, but it just doesn't feel any different. Shouldn't my temps be a lot higher with such a high increase in speed?

haha yes but it could be possible, did you increase voltage? my q6600 at 2.4 runs about 29 idle celcius and 38-42 max from what i can remember, oc'ed to 3ghz jumped to 36 idle and 52 load. also do you have 3dmark06 installed? if not you should download it here. Run it with your cpu at stock, then oc'ed see if your cpu score goes up by 2k or so.

when i OC'ed my 4850e stock 2.4GHZ to 3.2GHZ my temps jumped from 27C to 32C @Idle at load it's only @41-44C

haha a 4850e and a q6600 are way different for a comparison, though i suppose your point could have been so show that if a dual core overclocked increased in temperature your dam right his q6600 should have. just do what i posted earlier and that'll tell you. Though i personally notice a big difference booting up and running vista at 3+ghz over 2.4ghz, much more responsive.

weirdo, but could happen if u didnt increase the voltage OR u have a gem chip :)

I reckon I have a damn nice q6600 myself - 3.2ghz with a VID of 1.27 or 1.23 depending on whether you believe Everest or CPU-Z.
temps did not noticeably increase for me either - I hit mid 30s idle and mid 40s load pretty much same as ever.

im thinking you have a nice chip... if you didn't have to change your vcore to get it to 3.2... then damn.

If CPU-Z shows it at 3.2, i'm 99.95% sure that its a 3.2

I didn't go 100% for the hell of it :)

So the fact that I have crap ram isn't making things run slower than 3.2? (The ram is rated at 667 mhz, but according to cpu-z it is running at 887...ASUS bios automatically overclocks it to keep up with CPU I think, but I don't know how effective it is.)

that probly has to do with the ratio your using between fsb and ram speed.

voltages cause more of a temp increase then actual clock speed increases so yes its possible. Also with most core 2 chips its not uncommon for you to be able to overclock a good 800mhz+ before needing to increase voltage.

If its running that cool bump the FSB up more and increase your volts a notch....You can get more from that chip!!

Hey, I overclocked my quad to 4GHz and only 1C increase. I wasn't stable so I went back down to 3.6GHz.
