Overclocked my FX-70s

When I get home tonight I'm going to try going to 2.8 (+200mhz) and test out with superpi and 3dmark. If that's stable and my temps are good enough, (which I'm assuming it will be) I'll try 2.9, then 3.0 at the stock voltage. I'll override the overvoltage and keep it at 0. My temps are the only thing worrying me.

Yeah, so set it to that of the FX-74 and let the clock be at 3.00 GHz (15 x 200). With lower voltage (as opposed to 1.568V your board automatically set), you will see drops in temperatures.

15x200 is exactly how I had it last night. I think it was just the overvoltage that was making those temps climb.

I'm leaning closer to 69c being the max temp, because the CPUs got up to around 59-63 when running 3DMark06 and it locked up right after the first test. (The marine dudes landing on the space ship.) It came back from that test, said checking your system's configuration, and that was it.

I suppose I could jump right back to 15x200 and leave the voltages stock, since it was stable up until I used 3DMark. I'll test it and see what happens. Thanks for the post though.

Ok, so I did 15x200 last night, changed the CPU voltage to 1.35 and over-voltage to +.50. The stock voltage for FX-70s is between 1.35 and 1.40.

It locked up in the exact same place in 3DMark06 the other day; right after the first graphics test, and it pops back to your native rez saying "Checking your system's configuration". My temps were hovering just a tad higher than normal with the voltages set correctly, with one of the cores getting to about 52-53 during the test.

Weird that it would lock in the same place both times. We can rule out heat now. At stock speeds 3DMark06 runs perfectly fine without a hitch.

You do know that the clip can fit through the heatpipes. You CAN mount them the other way. I've done it.
