80mm fans, I didnt know those were still a thing.

if airflow is good id say around 4.4 easy 4.6 if youre lucky. most people i know dont bother going beyond 4.4 cuz of the heat

enable X.M.P Profile in your bios that should set your ram up for what your ram was designed for

To answer your question (it sounds like you already bought it), if you are primarily gaming, then all that is necessary on Intel is 1600/1866. However, there are other uses that can use the faster memory. Just do like @FreedomEclipse said and set your RAM to its XMP profile. It sure won't hurt anything to have fast RAM, not at all!

Have fun overclocking!

Thanks for your advice I've managed to get 4.5ghz using auto tune at idle cpu temp is 29.c I Stress tested using aida64 ran for about 4 hours cpu temp peaked at 63.c for a split second then runs around 57 to 60.c so far so good as for 80mm fans im using a cooltek g3 htpc case http://www.scan.co.uk/products/cooltek-g3-home-theater-pc-chassis and so far air flow seems good with the additional 2 120mm fans. Once again thanks for help and advice

If you have the time and are willing to put in the effort to learn, I would suggest you try manually tuning it. Basically you just enter a safe core voltage (usually 1.25-1.3v for air cooling) and then start pushing the multiplier until it becomes unstable and back off a bit before either upping the voltage or trying to increase clocks elsewhere (ram/uncore/cache).

I would suggest putting aside a decent bit of time to do this. I used a good part of two days playing around with an old CPU and Board, and if you are doing a manual overclock you will want to verify stability for at least 12h, if not more.

Just a question, what voltage did auto tune put in for the Vcore?

Is that under AIDA64 load? Looks like you have a pretty decent chip there.

Judging by your current temperatures I'd guess you could run without much trouble at 1.3v.

was a bit worried as I had 8gb of ram in another 8gb arrived today same make and setting etc only problem I have is since ive just put in the extra 8gb im now failing stress test even when not over clocked so im think im gonna have to try and figure out manual tuning its just overclocking is new to me
