Hi everyone,

I got one Palit GeForce 8800GS 384MB and i was surprised to see that GPU-Z is not detecting any temp. sensor on the card. Also the fan on the card has only 2-pin cable plugged in to the 4-pin connector in the graphics card. And because the card doesn't have any control over the fan, it is quite noisy. Any idea how to read temp. sensor or fan speed or how to reduce the fan speed??

specially Palit Guy, please respond. Thank you everyone.

Ok the two pin connecter has two wires red and black. Black is ground and red is power but not sure how much, the third connector is for the sensor to detect the fan speed and if there is a fourth one its for PWM. On my 8800GT it doesn't detect temps on GPUZ but if you have rivatuner you can check it there. DaMulta maybe he needs to change a setting in rivatuner to detect fan speed. If you have the same issue I did you can check the temps like this

Have you tried to install the VDO Tool that is on the CD to read the temps and set fan speeds?

Looking at this http://en.expreview.com/2008/01/21/review-palit-8800gs-384mb-768mb/
It's only supposed to have a 2pin fan. Maybe your card is one that is a board revision, and didn't get the proper fan installed on it.

If it's not reading temps I bet the sensor is broken, and you need to RMA it.

The review does say that the 384MB doesn't have temp. sensor. And i dumped the BIOS and in the bios, the fan settings are 100% for 2D, 3D & Throttle. If I change the fan speed in 2D box, will it work or because of the lack of the 4th-pin, it won't make a difference?? My ATI HD 3870 fan only got two wire (red & black), but it does respond to fan speed modification.

Thanks a lot everyone.
