Two days ago I had an issue in which a new CPU upgrade did not work. I tried both my 1090T (supported in that motherboard with my BIOS update), and my old 9950BE. Both did not get into BIOS. In my previous thread we came to the conclusion that the motherboard died.
Today I bought a new motherboard - an ASUS M4A88T-M. This supports the 1090T CPU. It claims on the box that it is AMD 6 core ready out of the box. I got new DDR3 RAM to go with it.
I plugged it in today and I have the same issue. When I turn on the power, the fans spin, the motherboard light goes on, and my video card lights go on. But I can not get into the BIOS. No beeps, nothing. It just sits there, lights on, with it's fans spinning.
I know this is not my RAM or motherboard as these are brand new. What about the PSU? It is supplying power to all the parts... I doubt it is the 1090T, as I had the same issue with the AMD 9950BE in my old motherboard.
What can it be?
Yesterday I removed a motherboard in a different PC, upgraded the CPU to an AMD 965, put a new heat sink/back plate in, and have been using it for hours with no issues. So I doubt I am doing something wrong in the installation.
