Hi guys,

Without going into detail, I need a camera to evidence some things that are happening to me lately. I'm not here to go into legalities or ethics, but basically I would like to find a pen camera that will fit into a shirt pocket and obviously face outwards, the most important thing is a decent microphone and long battery life (12 hours preferably, but if I have to buy 2 pens and swap them during the day then that's fine).

I have tried researching decent pen cameras already but almost none of them actually post any videos of the quality you can expect when you purchase it, so you're buying it blind. And a lot of them seem to come from very obscure companies and with not a lot of reviews or authenticity.

The few ones I have found with videos, seem to have good quality video but terrible audio quality, with a lot of buzzing or hissing.

Is there anybody with any experience in this matter, or that could help me out? As I said I don't want to divulge any further as to the reason why, but it's extremely important to me... This forum has been very friendly and good to me so far :)

Thanks everyone.

i dunno, most made in china so it may come in different name
maybe just go to your local shop and ask the cheapest and the most expensive and just ask the warranty or maybe you can test it before you buy it

You Need an HD Cam in Your SpyWatch 66 of your US dollars

tiny
high definition camera in this watch’s analog face, just below the six o’clock position. It’s fairly inconspicuous, and no one would know that wrapped around your wrist there is a 720p HD video and still camera. Features include a built-in mic with waterproof cap, USB port, video timestamp option, full A/V-out capability, Mac or PC compatibility and 4GB of memory for media or data storage.

Suggestion? /option?

heres a cheap button camera vid

Thanks for your help, both of you.

Shops around here don't sell that sort of stuff, and also I'm not allowed to wear a watch at work.

I've checked out that one you showed me, but the battery life is terrible, I think it was less than 2 hours.

It seems most pens and button cams have battery life between 30mins and 2 hours, which I really don't get because surely that's not going to last anybody their entire day...

Think I'll just have to accept defeat :( But thanks for your help again

Yea you're right, there's plenty of stores online that sell these sorts of things but most of them are designed for little kids or for novelty, or they just simply don't have any video or audio evidence that the things actually work. Most of the ones on amazon get really bad reviews and half of them are DOA. And 99% don't mention battery life, or they include support for memory cards that record for longer than the actual battery life stated :| Meaning they're pointless.

The not wearing a watch thing is nothing to do with security, it's for hygiene reasons as bacteria can build up behind the watch because it's not an area you can get to while washing your hands if you're wearing a watch or any jewellery.

The only things I can find that don't die after about 2 hours are button cameras that are around $200, and require a separate recording unit which is another $250 ish... and again most don't supply any video or audio quality samples. That's a lot of money to shell out with little confidence. A tie clip camera wouldn't be suitable either as we're not allowed to wear ties.

If anybody could find a wired button camera with the recording unit included that didn't cost a million dollars, that would be really helpful :)

I don't wear glasses I'm afraid, and I would need something wired to have enough battery life / recording capacity to last an entire day.

Plus, you started this early in the AM hours. Wait until some of our more tech-savvy groups get up, anyway.

The Israelis are big on this kind of stuff, i cant suggest where to look and i havent got spare time to help im afraid.
Years ago i went to a surveillance conference related to work i was doing......the Israelis were at the forefront of this kind of technology.

No politics from me....just personal experience. Israel did the hardware, S Korea did the software.
Im not going to help any further than this. I am not a fan of discrete filming.
