I'm posting for a friend.
Is it possible for a CPU to reach 100c? And if it is, what would happen? I recently overclocked a Phenom II 940BE to 3.3ghz and had a temp of 57c at full load(All 4 cores at 100%). Then, I edge up to 3.4, and run a stability test using AMD Overdrive. Right when the test started, speedfan displayed "100c" for all of my components, so I quickly hit "Stop". Afterwards, I had graphical glitches on almost all programs I'd open. Was it really at 100C? That's almost double the temperature from when I had it set to just 3.3ghz.
EDIT: Tried again. This time I went to 3.4Ghz with 1.4v(Can't go any lower), and speedfan didn't show any odd temperatures, but AMD Overdrive crashed, then I had graphical errors on my screen so I quickly restarted my PC to resume stock speeds to avoid damage. What could the problem be?
