For simple stuff; I use Olympus Master 2. It is free to use. And, it has red eye reduction.:)
    HammerON says thanks.

I'm using Gimp at the moment, and I'm really enjoying what it can do. Incredibly powerful tool for free software.
    HammerON says thanks.

Gimp or paint.net both are excellent.

Paint.net is a bit easier to use.

i might get shot for this but for red eye and cropping i just use the fix it button when viewing photos. It comes with vista and im sure w7 has a version. I think it works quite well for removing red eye.

I've been using GIMP for years, so +1 for that. :)
