Hi,

I created this thread only to ask to implement a feature which would let people see the bigger version of the pictures in the reviews without opening a new tab for each picture. Something like the attachment in the forum would work for me. I uploaded 3 pictures from the MSI Z170A GAMING M7 review to show what I mean.

EDIT: It's called Lightboxes!

Thanks.

While it looks pretty, it doesn't give much option to those with limited data, it will chew through it quicker.

It shouldn't be slower, see below.

While it looks pretty
I really don't care if it looks pretty or not, I only want to browse through the pictures faster.

it doesn't give much option to those with limited data
You don't loose the option to open it in a new tab, you only have to click on it with the scroll wheel (or right click and open in a new tab).

it will chew through it quicker.
If you don't click on the picture, it doesn't load it. It's the same as right now.

Thanks for your comments.

What you are describing is how attachments to posts work.

Images directly in posts actually load the full image when the page loads, and that definitely can definitely eat up bandwidth. These are the "Click to enlarge" pictures.

The other option for pictures directly in posts is to have a thumbnail image that is a clickable link to the full size image. These open in a new window, even on the forums.

Because the reviews are actually forum posts, they have to use the thumbnail approach because the image has to be in line with the text. It wouldn't be a good review if all the pictures were just piled at the end as attachments.

it's called a lightbox, the news posts have them, funny how reviews dont

middle click will still open a new tab, left click (or touch) will open the lightbox, ezpz

the code is real simple, you just the js & css to the head & then either give each image a class or target images contained in something.... well i probably dont have to explain, just do what the news posts do, it's already working

Yup, this is what I said.

From my understanding the news are also forum posts and they still use lightboxes so I'm pretty sure that it is possible to incorporate this already existing feature (on the front page and on the forum) to reviews.

BTW on the front page enlarged pictures are not loaded unless you click on them.

Good point.
