Well for my country 150$ is too much, plus when the card come here they get 150 euros which is 220$. Poor people and poor country to get 220$ (2 months job-full time) to play games? That is really anoying. Even when they come here they sell for 170 euros cuz 20 euros are the money for the shop. A big bravo for all people who will protest. Usually people who don't give a damn of what are you doing are the rich and American people cuz they get the card cheap and think that the market out their home is the GLOBAL market. Yeah, America is the place i want to live, but i should wait for the lottery first :'(
If they protest, there is nothing wrong, only right. Imagine the price of 5850 to get down by 20$. That means 30$ here, of which i worked 8 hours for 5$. Summing up 30$=48hours internet caffe job. And i dindn't work every day. You know people what my boss said when i was going to get paid???
There are people who don't give you even a coin after your job and it is my divine personality who makes me give you 100$ from 145$. So now get out of here. (he said that after 7 months waiting for me to get paid.)
Now i am waiting for the other 45$ as he said that he will give me the money in 20 july after finishing my job in 31 December. And yes, i worked even for that day.
And GTX480 here goes for 700$ or even more.

Tell that to intel... for selling overclocked cpus for double the amount of normal ones, at least in GPUs the more you spend better are the gains.
A 5850 over here costs as much as a washing machine, i don't complain on ATI sicne we have terrible taxes and an average coin.
Computers are not that expensive if you consider what they do.

Go protest with your government, not NVIDIA. Its the excise duties and taxes your government imposes that makes those products costlier.

And no, 3rd world prices aren't high. In India and China, hardware and software prices are on-par or below US prices.

Back when I built my first computer a 939 AMD unit it was approx $1700 (nice at the time) but for that same price now I can have a great computer that would 5x the performance of that 939 machine. But I guess if you are going to complain you might as well not stop at just video cards, go on down to the car manufacturers, home builders, utility companies, etc.... If the profits are not there there is no need to develop new technology. I agree with everyone else - get a job!!!!!

Business is good for these companies. If their products were overpriced, then they wouldn't be selling.

Personally, I think the prices are fair. Both nVidia and ATi make damn good products and quite a few manufacturers have awesome warranties. You can't forget that side of the business.

In that 939 machine I spoke of earlier it was a x800GTO PCIe card - unlocked all 16 pipelines - it was sweet but finally died about a year ago

I still have my asustek ti4200 thing clocked right up to ti4800 speeds so I keep it as a momento to when the entire line was seperated only by clock speeds and memory amount. I don't think this kid gets it hell I played crysis on a single core socket 754 athlon 1gb of ram and a 7800gs agp. 1024x768 medium settings that was all I could push and the gameplay as still enjoyable the game still looked good and I still loved that rig. Like I said if you want 5850 performance bbuy a 4850x2 problem solved read my specs there is no dx11 cards in there
