The much-anticipated Sony Playstation 3 Firmware 2.40 is now available, as promised, just as July 2nd rolled around. The update includes:

    • Xross Media Bar (XMB) access in-game.
    • Trophy Support (the PS3's answer to the Xbox 360's achievements).
    • Expanded Gamer Profiles.

To my understanding the in-game music and trophies will only work when the actual game gets patched for it.

Yeah you're right. I tried playing music in GTA 4 and couldn't. Other than the patching thing I'm loving the new update!

To my understanding 70% of the games are already patched for it.

yea that would be nice. but for the time being you can always convert .mkv files to .vob files with the very simple to use mkv2vob program. i used that program to test out a 'borrowed' copy of the transformers 1080p x264 rip that was 30 gigs and it worked perfectly.
