I will be moving the entirety of the networking related mess underneath my wife's PC into a small rack enclosure some time within the next few months, and figured I might do some optimizations. A PoE capable switch might just be what I need.
I guess I'll have to stick with 8 ports as 16 would probably cost a shit ton (I think I can make do with 8).
I am not sure what it might cost (apparently a lot more than regular switch), but can you toss out a few examples? As a reference point of sorts, I currently have Trendnet TEG-S80g.

Netgear GS108T v2 seems to be getting some praise. It's about €70 here. The cheapest 16 port is some Linksys at €140, so I too wouldn't consider it worth it to have 16 ports.

Actually, I am an idiot. I checked the cabling again and it seems like I'd rather need a router with PoE (it's the damn wifi antenna that needs power, and goes directly into the router, obviously). Good luck to me I guess, that doesn't exist. Heh.
