No, the site isn't affliated with ATI, but it has the ATI softmod drivers, ATI Tool, and the ATI BIOS collection. So it tends to draw a lot of ATI users.

Seems that the fact ATI update their drivers each month is being cited as a positive in the "good things about ATI" have you ever though why? perhaps they just can't get them quite as good as they might be first time around. personally I prefer a good set of simple drivers that once "Tweaked" to my needs dont want or need changing for a while.

I love ATI cards and my old HIS 850XT ICEQ 2 was mega, but there are some things that really Pi*s me off about them just as there is with NVidia. All this talk about unlocking/overclocking abilites of the ATI's is not really any different to NVidia, well currently especially, there aint too many cards of any side out there that on stock cooling will take memory from 660 to 900Mhz+!! and the 7900 does (albeit I wouldnt want to keep it there indefinatly without some good ramsinks). I ONLY got my 7900GT because at the time it was definatly the "Best Bang for Buck" I paid about £12 ($20) more than I would have for an x1800GTO!

Lastly, people are talking about the unlocking potential of the 1800GTO, why bother? for £12 more as I said I got the 7900GT with 24PP so there aint nothing to unlock!......job done.

checking system specs, and the amount of x800gto and x800gto2 users, i feel like that would be a good poll too : does your card have the letters gto in it? yes or no. hahah. i mean, i came to this site because i was building the cheapest, best pc i could, and the x800gto2 fit that bill around november/december '05, so i was on this site all the time for Oc'ing info and posting my computer was the only thing i actually used my sn for. but i looked at tons of cases, and loved it. i was hooked! i didn't actually start posting for real in the forums until april probably, maybe even may! i go here everyday now, and it's all because of the x800gto2 article/forums and of course, atitool!

Check this out man: Every now and then ATI drivers get enhanced, specially performance. Once there was the Advanced AA modes for all Direct X9 ATI cards that got enabled, another time they got openGL games like DOOM3 to get much improved performance on X1x00 cards, then they added smooth vision, hydravision, blabla.... Every month they fix issues with games that Nvidia takes months to fix, sometimes never fixed. Nvidia cards for a LONG time had the shimmering problem. For 2 years Nvidia cards can not DO HDR and AA modes at once, and they don't care to resolve. Nvidia users don't have the support that ATI users have, period!

Don't get me wrong, I once had an Nvidia card: Geforce 200MX.... Was good, then I switched to Radeon 8500 instead of the more expensive Geforce 3. Since then, I can tell you ATI drivers have got extreme makeover.

^True. What I never get is the most expensive graphics card. I always go for mid-range, save some money. And I upgrade when I need to. If there's something new out, but my graphics card plays all of my games fine (30+ FPS) then I don't have a need to upgrade. I only upgrade when I need it. Don't get upgrade your graphics card because there's something newer, upgrade your graphics card when you feel like you need more performance.

Alright guys, I take back what I said about ATI drivers being extreme hogs. I suppose I should just delete AOL from my XP partition, see how long it takes until my parents notice . I just got mad that I was using 300MB RAM on system startup.

 You certainly have good priorities! I personally would have gotten a 7800GS AGP, saved up a bit more, and then bought a TV tuner (or traded some parts in my rig for a TV tuner.).

I was gonna get an AIW card, but I just went with a normal X800XL. And I have a Conexannt TV Tuner/Capture Card, and the ATI HDTV Wonder.
