    Hi all.

I just have a short question,
    how should I run prime95
    Small FFTs/large FFTS or Blend
And for how long it should be run?

Thanks for all the help in advance.

Prime 95 is garbage but it depends on what your testing. Hasswell forget it

In my experience, it's a waste of time and energy. Linx and Intel Burn Test are much better options for stability testing. Prime can run for hours with no problems and then a few minutes of Linx can bring your OC to it's knees. It just makes it much more obvious when your OC is not stable and can do it much faster.

Its good for a quick test to see if your heat sink is installed correctly. Just run it They are correct though there is a lot it doesn't test with new CPUs

OCCT and it's solid variety of testing options. I much prefer it over Prime 95.

You ask us for help yet you "know better" in the post above? OCCT is specially designed for this purpose while P95 has it's stress-test mode added like an afterthought.

yes, that's called being out of date

a lot of people seem to be lazy & stick to old tests, old techniques, old everything...

my vote is for agentgod intelburnintest, but OCCT is also good

in the end, you still have to use your computer as you would normally for the final stability test

Couldn't you think of more idiotic reply?

Before you people start spewing shit on completely fine program, you might want to educate yourself about it. It's everything but out of date.

    Octopuss... :shadedshu:

That is not how we need to treat other forum members..wrong or not. That is not what TPU is about and why it's the best community on the web. This place is about educating and helping others, not elevating one's self by chastising others. You have been reported and I hope you can learn to help others instead of the method you used above.

I am going off of my experience, not what the market is doing. I build dozens of computers a month, have a customer base from business to cad/cam to gaming. That is the tool I use to ensure everything's stable on my machine and customers' machines.

Prime is old school, but has been updated and is still useful. But why not look at OCCT that does what Prime does and adds about a dozen other things. Live monitoring, GPU testing, a PSU test that loads the CPU, RAM, Controllers, GPU to maximse load pull from the PSU. Sure it's not a dedicated PSU test, but I can't think of a better way to stress the PSU with your own build.

The amount and types of tests you can do is quite nice, the reports it prints at the end, the stats it monitors, the timing settings, all in one package. Sure Prime is nice, but so limited in comparison. I go for the utility that does 90% of what I need to test a system, the other 10% lies in memtest86 and Crystal Disk for testing and information, and of course the occasional AIDA or Speccy if I need more information.

There's a lot of good options, Prime is definitely still one of them, but I feel, at least in my experience that OCCT is the better and more capable option, imho.

I hope you enjoy yourself by "making things right".
So that dude posting complete untrue nonsense claiming a program is garbage without anything to back it up is fine, but telling him his derogatory post is idiotic is not.
    ...yeah.

Often it's not what you say, more "how you say it", now for example, had you have said something like "To be honest I think your reply is not only wrong but very ill informed and misleading, prime remains a very good stress test and is preferred by many" then there would have been no need for post 15 and everyone would be happy, as it happens 2 or 3 of you are not, I will leave you to decide why lol! :ohwell:

I still use Prime95 for CPU stress testing, used it over the weekend for a new build. If a CPU can get through it overnight, I'm confident it'll be rock solid in just about everything else.

I still use P95 blend test and IBT AVX. I use IBT for a quick test and P95 for the endurance test in conjunction with Unigine heaven.
