Hello
I have a weird message when i boot up my pc, it mostly happens when my pc has been off for day or so. When i hit the power button and pc starts, i get message '' Boot failure '' or smth like that. Then i click on '' Enter bios '' and then just exit and reboot, i dont change anything, and my pc boots just fine.
My Specs :
Fx6300 @4.3Ghz with CM T4 hyper cpu cooler.
Gigabyte G970A-UD3P mobo
Kingston HyperX fury @1866mhz
Corsair 600W modular PSU
XFX R9 280X Black edition
Could that be because of my cpu overclock? btw, temperatures are good. I overclocked via Bios. I turned all the power saving features off, bumped the multiplier and added max voltage at 1.347v. Tested it in prime95 and everything was fine.

Try checking or replacing the CMOS battery.

And, you need only make one thread on this problem!

edit:

You may, also, want to try turning your OC off and test.
Run a disk check and check the SMART data.
Try replacing your drives data cable with another.

It is the overclock most probably. Default your CMOS and find your stable MAX again.

Can you start with some logical step by step process, to pinpoint the exact problem, not by want and do not want.

If removing the OC solves the problem, the problem is there. Aging of every component, bad contact etc may play a role in there why the motherboard POST procedure hooks a stick in the wheels. Happened dozens of times.

Okey, ill try to remove my oc, but its really hard to tell if it will fix the problem, because as i said it happens randomly, not on every boot up. If its my oc, what might be the problem? My pc is also new, its almost 2 months old.

You cannot complain to RMA service that you cannot OC enough high anymore.

So try testing more for few days, that's the only way. It could be the crap Gigabyte as always... they have two revisions of the board again. Try the beta bios if you have the 1.0 board... altough I've googled that it has spelling errors in it too and I loled at the fact as such.

I just gave him the exact same advice on his other thread of the same issue.
EDIT: I would try a giving the cpu 1.45 volts and see if that fixes it too but maybe a better description of the error Like what it really says would be more helpful in figuring out the issue.

I have received more than one mobo for work configs that came with dead cmoc batteries. We really need the real error message the BIOS is giving him to help correctly.

Thank you Edgars that will help very much and welcome to TPU :lovetpu: I hope you like the site as much as I do and have! I also noticed a lot of people need to be nearer the 1.4 to 1.45 voltage on cpu to get stable over 4.2ghz. Not all as some a pretty good clockers.

Thanks! :) Well i also red a lot of different guides to overclock my cpu. 1.347v seemed to be stable, because if i lowered my voltage just a little bit ( thats one time hitting the - in bios ) it gave me bsod in prime95, then i tried 1.35 v, also was working good, so i decided to lower my voltage to 1.347v and it still was working fine, havent had any blue screens or anything. Just that '' boot failure '' smth once in a while.. ;/ I disabled my overclock now, and will see if it gives me the error tommorow. And im really confused about this because, when it gave me the error, i clicked enter bios, and '' exit and reboot '', i didnt change anything, and it boots / works just fine.

Well it gives me option to load defaults, but i ussually dont click it.
Edit: When i click enter bios, its already on stock clock (3.5ghz) but i just exit the bios, so it boots with my overclock settings. Probably should have mentioned this earlier. but still, i dont get this error on every boot up.

More info please

Does the clock on your desk top keep the correct time?

It doubt it is your overclock as you would be stuck in a weird loop if you didnt load the defaults.:banghead:

FWIW, I had a similar boot issue with my 750... randomly getting boot errors after a reboot (not usually a cold boot, but more like a Windows restart), and would have a boot error, overclocking failed message. I was getting this on a stable overclock I had for years prior, so wasn't sure what it was. All my settings in BIOS looked fine.

I went into the BIOS, wrote all my clock settings and voltages down, loaded defaults, booted into Windows, did another restart, went back into BIOS, and reentered the things I had written down, and haven't seen the message come up since.

I also tried to set everything to default, and then overclocked cpu again, but today after school BOOM the message occured again. It might be my overclock not my cmos as some are saying, cuz my mobo is new, and as far as i know gigabyte makes decent mobos imo. I reseted to the defaults in bios, and will see when i come home after school tommorow and boot my pc up.

If it is reproducable by stock settings each day, scrap the board, RMA it.
