Ok, so I have two HDDs. I decided to reformat my Drive D today but encountered a strange problem. When I try boot up, it now tells me to choose two diff operating systems, it never did that before and now everything appears backwards. When I click to boot with my 1st HDD, the data had saved on it now appears on drive D. When I boot up with the 2nd HDD which would appear as Drive D on my 1nd HDD, data appears from drive C on it. What is going on..

take the drive u formatted out. boot system and then power back down. reinstall the drive (make sure its set as the slave if on pata). then set your bios to boot from ur master. once you are back in windows reformat your drive again but this time in windows not with the windows disk. what you actually did was install windows on yor second hdd..

im confused lol..you have 2 hds' or 1 drive with 2 partitions? and a recovery cd? it might be set up to restore to a certain drive letter or from a certain drive letter. bottom line is if ur putting windows on a hd unplug the other drives until its done. possibly ur boot.ini is screwy to depending on what youve done so far....if you have a working windows there figure out which drive its on then unplug the other one and look at your boot.ini it should look similar to this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer /noguiboot

...then we go from there if ur not straight yet :)

Well, I tried to format..Windows refuses too..I even unhooked one of the HDDs, and windows is STILL asking me which one I want to boot from...not to mention, after I unhook one, it refuses to boot into windows at all.

Ok..From my Maxtor HDD, it seems I can format my Seagate HDD, should I go for it? and will it fix the problem I'm in?
