you dumbass, its the bottom middle that trips your psu. that particular wire is not neceassary and essentially just wasting space. cut the mother fucker, plug it in, smile that it works, and shut the fuck up.

:slap: You’re the dumb ass bud, that’s what I was talking about this whole time. I “said” I just might leave it as is with one Molex connected and that I wasn’t sure if I should go and cut that middle bottom wire and use both connectors. That was my question, What pissed me of is when you say dumb shit like “stop bitching at us” WTF man I’m not bitching at all, I’m just trying to get a clear cut answer not bull shit comments "like yours" that don’t help, I get told that I should leave it buy one person then another say’s I should use both and cut the bottom wire. Like WTF man you can’t blame me for wanting CLEAR CUT ANSWERS

That’s fine we all get moody, but when other people post insults like “I deserved to have my hard ware fail” or “stop bitching at us” I will speak my mind. I’m just trying to figure out witch of the two options are better. I recently did cut that middle ground wire because I would rather the power be spread out over two 12 v wires then apposed to just one. I don't know why they sell these connectors like this (that don't work as there supost to) and nether do all the people at new-egg :wtf:

Yep’r I cut the bottom middle one and its working flawless :toast: . I found out why my home made one fried, turns out it wasn’t in all the way and the pins were only contacting half way. The plastic pin is only burnt half way, so the left 12v pin started to short out, with my home made one it didn’t have a latch on it like my new one does, so it was hard to tell if it was in all the way. Thank god it didn’t burn the card up, cuz I can not afford another one. You can bet this new one is in all the way with the latch down.

2003CRF450GUY,
The bottom wire you had to cut to make it work, where exactly was it connected?

In the 6pin PCIe:
Between
1. the black ground wires?
2. the yellow 12V wires?

In the 4pin molex:
1. middle (either one)
2. edge (either one)

dude, we have it sorted out. its the bottom middle, between the two yellow wires.
i was wrong, btw, the bottom wires are 12v rails... not grounds... which makes it even more confusing that you card worked with only the ground wires plugged in... wtf?

If the bottom middle pin was actually connected from between the yellow 12V wires of PCIe to molex ground then the adapter in shortcircuit by design thus it is faulty out-of-the-box.

edit:
This is how a PCIe 12V connector should be wired:
3 ground wires on the side of the lock clip.
3 12V wires on the other side.

the bottom ground pins should be connected. if your card wont boot when all are connected as largon showed then you have a fried pin on your card end of story. if you dont connect it and it works ok, but your hardware still has an issue. it should run fine. my x1800xt only has two 12v inputs from the power supply because my adapter only has one molex. the one connector can easily supply 50w of power but i dont trust a cheap adapter to carry 75w with no problem.

hey largon what you said about 108w max is entirely correct, if they use 18ga wire...

What I ment was, I cut the middle wire closes to the card like the guide for the home made ones. I notice most of these connectors are color differently from make to make so we cant go buy what color to cut. Again I cut it just like the "home made connector link" says to do it, middle wire closes to the card.

Ya I can see how the “bottom middle” might be confusing. If you’re looking at it installed in the card with the card installed in the computer then it would be the “TOP” middle connector wire. LOL so I figured I would make it a little more clear, “middle wire closes to the card” that way no madder how you look at it you should still know what one to cut.:D

um i have one of those 1 4pin to 6 pin adapters, it came with eather my msi x1900xt or my buddys sapphire x1900xt, it has a wire looped between some of the pins not 2 sets of wires running from the 4pin molex connector!!!!!

it dosnt need both molex connectors, they are normaly there for people with multi rail psu's so that the person can devide the load up between 2 of the rails, but as stated its not needed for singal card configs!!!!

sapphire cards come with 1 molex versions!!!!!
