Well the new build is out now 302, so go and check it out and tell us what you think
I did give it a quick "Spin" in the M1 and the Huayra down the California Road with my 360 Pad(just happened to be plugged in) I will drag my "race rig"(G25/Playseat) over sometime over the weekend and give it serious going over.
Looks good and sounds good. Can't really judge handling with a Pad.
What about the crap handling/steering?
You must've played with a KB and think that it's normal, lol.
I just bought the Full package (45 Euro, ~$60). Game looks awesome visually and I'd like a chance to mess around with it.
Pressing F1 opens a dev menu that allow to change some settings like lighting, HDR, FFB, etc. There is also a Tweakit tool that allows to change weather conditions settings, etc. It's all in the pCARS forums.
I jumped in game, set everything to max, and am getting 40-50 FPS constant. This game is beautiful and optimized very well, especially for being in alpha. Looking at finally getting a G27 now.
I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for this one. This is gonna be freakin sweeeet. the detail on the cars in the vids look awesome. Its nice to have a bunch of dif race classes in one game instead of having to own several diff games to suit your mood.
Someone should add in the orig bat mobile from the 70's tv series lol. That'll be awesome.
You know anything on the physics or gpu loads this thing will need? I see more detail in cars but the grass kick up from the tires looks a lil lame and wondering if there will be more debris from crashes/environment. Also is there any rain/weather change/night driving?
I'm on their site now and hoping all over the place lol. figured you can prob answer me faster then me finding it lol.
They have some leaves and little pebbles that move around in the track, currently they are using a CPU based Physx so theres no Nvidia favoritism. The cars when they crash against walls leave parts around the track like the hood or bumpers, the doors also come off. The pic below shows a Gumpert with the doors open and missing the back cover and a Pagani Huayra without doors or and the engine cover + bumper, they should be a bit back in the road
In terms of GPU loading any graphic card with 1GB can handle it properly
Oh and the batmobile has been requested in the movie cars thread we have in the forums for the community to make requests of every strange car they can think of
You can check my screenshots here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/9loe4f7errktern/rR3SyXvjVY/PCars Screenshots
Yea I seen parts coming off the cars like hoods and mirrors. That does add a nice touch to it. Being cpu bounded though, you'll have to have something with multi cores to handle game and physic loads so alot of ppl with lower pc's won't get the best exp out of it.
With there be tuning on the cars like engine/tires/accel? I can see theres not much for changing looks as this isn't a nfsu game lol.
lol, sweet. Glad I wasn't alone on that thought. I'll look over in that thread once i find it and what other cars were mentioned as I can think of a few others.
* Those are some sweet shots. So much detail in the cars. makes the good ole days of playing nascar on ps2 look like crap lol. Thats making me want this sooo much more.
Yes there will be tuning on the cars, currently you cant change the type of tire you are using but there will be that option if i recall.
Check the images below for the various options it has currently:
Just a small note, there wont be upgrades to the engines and such
That a good bit of tuning. I just seen in the forum about evolution night lighting so i take it theres night driving. Would explain why race cars having head/taillights lol. This is coming along really nicely. Sure wished i stayed on top of this when first mentioned to get i on beta or something to get a feel for it. Now I gotta wait till release. grrr.
Thanks for all the info so far. Its really helpful and its moving me closer and closer to wanting this which is not a decision any more. i need this.
You dont have to wait for the release people can play it already. But if you want a demo then you really have to wait for the release in 2013 Q1 or Q2, if nothing goes wrong
yea demo. Thats what i was looking for. just to get a feel for whats there already. I know nothing of designing. Would be sweet to but never got around to getting into that even though I have a lot of time now to do something like that. I'll still keep my eyes open for this to come as a demo or something since the anticipation will prob kill me by then lo.
Heh well if you ever get desperate enough to try it out and want to support the developers you can do the following:
You should then be able to log in to the game with your forum details.
Each pack will give you some perks, you can start with the Junior Pack (doesnt have BMW's or Nordschleife) and if you enjoy the game enough to think it is worth upgrading you can do it without extra charge just the difference between them
Got some feedback? Head over to the Project CARS forums to talk directly with the team!
Thanks. I was just looking all over how to get whats there so far. wouldn't mind sharing some input on what i find or some suggestions.
i'll put you as a referrer if you like. what name to use for you?
As i mentioned in pm i do not need a referral but i appreciate the offer, i hope you enjoy the game and be sure to take some screenshots
New trailer just released by our community member Halcyon!
Any Honda or Acura cars?
Theres no licence yet for Honda's but it is the brand most requested in the forums and since the game will eventually have drifting the Honda's are a MUST HAVE in that area
ok, thanks for telling me.
Guys prepare your graphic cards, ready up your CPU's, if Project CARS was tempting before.. now it will blow up your mind ...and make you wet!
All the screenshots above were taking ingame by the developers with the improved weather system will come soon to pCARS. From realistic windscreen water effects to the beautiful reflections arounds the tracks to immerse you into the racing even more!
How do you drift a FWD honda?
The first rule to drifting is to use a RWD car. Its not impossible but its 95% better with a RWD.
Older cars like 70's 80's toyotas, mitsubishi's, and pretty anything RWD with nice weight balance and power is the ideal drifter.
You do it like this with a mod RWD Honda

Or you can have customized it with a AWD traction, when i said honda's i didnt meant that all of them are original, even the racing cars from other brands have suffered some modifications to be able to perform as they do in real life

I just signed up to the forum. I may when I get home buy a tool pack but I am undecided about what level of sponsorship I would like to join.
You can start by the lowest and if you enjoy the game you can upgrade it .
For example the Junior build is 10€ the Team member is 25€, if you start with a Junior and then decide to upgrade to Team Member it will be just 15€ which is the difference between the current package and the next
The Junior has a monthly build that is updated in the first week of every month, so the build you play is kinda old, while the Team Member has a weekly build that will be updated Friday.
