Prototype: CPU minimum - Intel E4700 [OR] AMD x2 3800+? Are you kidding me?

Does anyone else find this strange?

How can they recommend an E4700 on Intel's side, and an x2 3800+ on AMD's?

In terms of raw power, a Pentium D 945 @3.4ghz is about as powerful as the 3800+.

Not to mention that an E4700 would kick ANY Pentium D in the nuts.

How is this so?

It's just the power disparity between those 2 CPUs that bothers me.

They recommend a much less powerful CPU on AMD's side. E4700 would trump all over it.

We should not compare perfomance segment in this case.

The E4700 is clocked @ 2.6ghz. The x2 3800+ is clocked @ 2ghz.

Even an equally clocked E4x00 (2ghz), would still be faster clock per clock that the Athlon x2.

Well.. apparently Prototype works with an AMD 3800+ and a E4700. Performance discrepancy or not, they should both work. I guess a lower performance AMD chip just works with this game, not a big deal.

you see this all the time, the game just seems to favor AMD hardware, sure, the E4700 trades blows with the X2 6000+ and blows it away when overclocked so I can see why you would be odd about this though.

i see what he's saying.... my old e4300 traded blows with a 6000+ especially in games, c2d has always dominated games especially clock-per-clock. Theyre definitely off in terms of CPU power.

^ that review (and any other) pretty much shows c2d blowing away the 6000+, so yeah... dunno.

Maybe the 4700 is recommended and the 3800+ is minimum?
