I'm looking for a PS3. Just the console (and AV cable and power cable). I don't need any games or even a controller.

It doesn't matter much what size hard drive it has or what model it is or whatever. It's basically going to be used as a bluray player and that's about it.

Maybe... but I would need an old BR player. I have an old TV that does not have HDMI and all BR players since 2011? have only HDMI output.

I was hoping to scoop up a PS3 on a deal... there is a possibility I may be able to find a game my fiancee could play with me (she's an epileptic...) but 99% of the time the thing would be used to play discs or stream netflix anyway...

Anyone out there got a capable BD player (need h.264 playback capability for sure, streaming options like netflix, must have legacy AV connections...) let me know

I'd rather go with the PS3 though as I feel it will be more capable... and it will work with the cheaper LTH bluray discs, at least after a firmware update.

ed - a remote control would be very handy indeed...

I have an old school Panasonic Blu-Ray player from about 2010. Works great and has component out. It fully supports all the blu-ray optional features as well. Was really high end when I got it. Latest firmware too.

No streaming options though. Any interest?

The streaming options are a good part of why I want to do this... I'm really looking for a PS3 but I could do with a BR player that has streaming options... it just needs to have either composite, component or s-video output... my TV can accept any of those.
