Was just talking about this with a friend, it does sound great. Would be surprised to see it so soon though.
yea its a monster from the looks, in terms of specs it kills the 3DS but will this be the PSP all over again because thats obviously why they changed the name, question is will it have good games.
and it looks like this won't have PS3 level hardware but it will probably be graphically comparable to the PS3.
I was suprised to see a 4 core cpu(up to 2Ghz) and 4 core gpu(which sony probably customized), I guess no umd drive gave sony more space to work with.
The 3DS will destroy this in sales.
Hmm looks good and I still want to be able to transfer games from my ps3 to it
Most likely as I bet it will be cheaper, and Nintendo has the biggest hold in the handheld market, but thats not really whats at discussion here.
I am more interested in this over that 3DS, especially, now that I see the specs, it's just a different target audience. A portable PS3 basically, sign me up!
I'd say thats doubtful, while its cool that they had MGS4 running on it, and they say it looked fine, it was at 20fps, and I bet it dips even farther.
Sony has the biggest hold? Wait wut?
Also the fact you cannot play PSP games on this just killed its game catalog. What good are graphics when you don't have any games to play?
That was a typo Nintendo has a much larger hold.
I don't love the PSP for the features it has out of the box, I love it for the features it has once you unlock it. We'll see what the PSP2 is really capable of.
Fair enough! I really want a handheld but I can wait. I want a 6990 more
I'm more interested in this over the 3DS too
what I'd like to know more is if sony signed a contract to delay the tech in phones.
My money is on the PSP2 being capable of playing PSP games, and hopefully PS1 and 2 games, and maybe some from 3. The sole reason I bought my PSP1 was to play Diablo 1 on it, it just sint the same on PC all stretched out, and I own it for PS1, but no longer have one. Those small screens really make the old titles shine.
you can play downloadable PSP games.
I will definitely be getting this over the 3DS as well.
Nintendo appeals to an audience Sony just can't compete with... Children.. of all ages.
isn't xbox360 didn't compatible with original xbox games? Its depend on killer exclusive games on launch.
I think these are the launch titles.
* Call of Duty
* Monster Hunter Portable 3
* Dynasty Warriors
* Reality Fighters
* Gravity Daze
* Little Deviants
* Smart As
* Hot Shots Golf
Sadly, you're right.
I think all the launch titles are spin-offs.
this was back in December
lol at psphone
but the resolution is 960x544 which is a bit high I think for this device giving its power, maybe they shoulda dropped it.
The 360 can play old Xbox games. I'm not sure what you are talking about.
It's not that big of a deal. As long as it profits and they see fit to keep it in production and keep games coming.
They should run the PSP2 like an app store, encouraging development. That has ALWAYS been one of Sonys pitfalls, the shunning of user development.
Just because its illegal for Sony to allow an app to be sold that will allow say a GBA game to play on the handheld does not mean they should dump all their research and development into making sure a CS student with a good idea can't make a homebrew app that does just that.
I understand your concern, but I look forward to that resolution for watching video on it, gaming...lets hope its fast as hell or more likely (I can't believe I am suggesting it) does some pixel doubling.
I would not say they kept games coming for the PSP so sadly I am not sure they would keep them coming for the PSP2.
I'm excited for it, and I will definitely get one.
On a related note, here's an article detailing a hands on experience with it:
What I don't get is Sony is a "pioneer" in 3D tech. and yet Nintendo is going 3D before they are in this category. The Wii proved that gimmick is better then horsepower.
Its a very big deal man. The 360 and PS3 lost some support from developers due to the Wii's popularity. Granted some was crap support but some wasn't. If you are a developer have to dedicate resources to the best selling system. Even if said system sucks fo horsepower. Thats resources lost for "better" systems. Nintendo is the BIG DOG in this market. Sony needs to out market them. System specs aint enough.
maybe Sony doesn't see a future in 3D technology.
3D technology had zero growth over the holidays in fact NPD reported LCD televisions took heavy losses. take a look at what Roger Ebert had to say about 3D recently.
