piracy is killin everyone right now, every console has a hack right now that let pirates pirate games without a chip, excluding nintendo's because they were smart and used carts, with that being said

I don't think its going to use memory stick, i think its gonna use something similar to nintendo's carts cause I don't see a slot to put a memorystick in but theres a slot or somethin on top that makes me think flash carts.

I gotta agree though, but the PSP was not really a failure but it just ran out of steam and got forgotten like how gamecube got forgotten between the ps2 and xbox.

PSP just ran out of steam and died to me, not enough marketing, and when they did market it, the commecials were just dumb, . . . . . . remember the squirrels.

The sheer fact the PSP got hacked is what makes me still use my PSP to this days. All the mods and hombrew keep my PSP alive.

This thing looks beyond awesome to me. Day one purchase, if I have the $400-500 when it comes out (which I'll try hard to have). I can't think of a single feature they've left out. Sweet.

yea its a monster from the looks, in terms of specs it kills the 3DS but will this be the PSP all over again because thats obviously why they changed the name, question is will it have good games.

and it looks like this won't have PS3 level hardware but it will probably be graphically comparable to the PS3.

I was suprised to see a 4 core cpu(up to 2Ghz) and 4 core gpu(which sony probably customized), I guess no umd drive gave sony more space to work with.

Bigger hardware generally means shorter battery life.

The 3DS will destroy this in sales.

I just don't see the point I would much rather have fun games that are different and a different and unique experience over re-hashed console games. I mean don't get me wrong a portable that can play console games sounds pretty cool, but it also sounds like the battery life will be crap, and require constant charging, which is a rather large detraction from portability.

Also why would I want to re-buy all the games I already own, as this is Sony and you know they will not allow you to transfer games. This just seems like another waste of time like the PSP was.

A Sony exec said not $599, but thats about it. I think $249-$349 is a probable range.

I doubt that when has Sony ever had affordability in mind for any of it's products, $450-$600, sounds a lot more like a Sony price.

The only way I can see it being in that price range is if it has 3G and is sold with a 3G plan.

I doubt that when has Sony ever had affordability in mind for any of it's products, $450-$600, sounds a lot more like a Sony price.

The only way I can see it being in that price range is if it has 3G and is sold with a 3G plan.

Well the PSP was pretty cutting edge back @ its launch and was $249, so its not completely impossible. I think it would be a tough sell into the $400 range.

As far as battery life, I think the estimates that put it @ the same as PSP usage could be right. They ditched the UMD and backlit LCD, and the silicon in this thing is surely more energy efficient than the archaic 90nm chips in the PSP.

I think it will be a tough sell, given how badly Sony burned everyone with the PSP.

Also all the "estimates" of battery life is all speculation like my opinions, we will know for sure once we get our hands on it. Personally the one thing I want to know is will it have a better warranty than the standard Sony" 1 year then we want 150 + to fix it and may just refuse to fix it for any reason we can dream up and then keep your money and charge you to ship the dead product back to you warranty", as it makes the majority of Sony products throw away, as it's less hassle to just go buy a new one.

However the 3DS is 250 bucks and doesn't even have half the features this thing does. Add Sony to the name and 499 seems reasonable.

450-600 IMO, add 7-10 % for tax and it stings a lot!

Rune Factory: Frontier got me buy the platform, and I played Tales of Symphonia and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time.

Well, I have some ancient hardwares like PS1, PS2, Xbox, and few other stuff in storage. As much as I liked them back in its era, I'd like to have at least some decent graphics nowadays, but I feel that overall RPG standards are dropping.

I agree. The thing is, I'm not scared to pay that. If it has some sort of good video output, then I'd ditch the PS3 and my iPod Touch for it.

Hopefully they'll have an adapter that plugs into the bottom for HDMI output. Actually, they should have just put mini-HDMI on the thing.

All the same and back to topic, I am quite pessimistic about this thing, and will likely not be a Gen 1 adopter.
